The "4 New Tracks A Month" Movement (a desperate attempt to revive My Tracks)

Hi,
me again.

It's sad to see the number of new designs in this forum steadily decline, isn't it?

Well, one thing's for sure - the forum has got the talent and the means. I'm sure time is no problem either if we mean business.

So, to try to revive the tempo of the Golden Days, when new tracks appeared here daily (or even more than one per day), I hereby start the "4 Tracks A Month" Movement. Anyone can join in - the criteria are:

- "members" submit atleast 4 tracks each month for the next 6 months;
- they participate actively in evaluating the others' designs (meaning we keep commenting on them )

Simple, isn't it?

My last attempt to bring us together failed miserably (the My Track Championship), let's see how this one's gonna work...

Just to give it a push start, I join the movement first, thus lifting my self-imposed ban on submitting new designs (from last December).

Anyone interested?

I'm in, was going to start MTW 7, seeing as we're nearing 25k, but what the hell, I'll start doodling!! might do a clockwise one this time

EDIT: Track 1 is done!! Will upload when I get my camera charged up (yes, it's a hand drawn shape, needs a little clear up.)

I'll try my best starting next month. I still have a few waiting to be posted so I'll start there. Don't expect much of me though.

I'll join too.

I've actually got a whole host of designs just waiting to be uploaded. I'll start putting up on, starting with a street circuit....

I am totally in for this!

Should we post tracks in our own threads or have a joint thread for posting?

I think the problem is you guys have raised the bar so much. Your tracks are so detailed now it puts the likes of me off because we don't go into so much detail. Don't mean that in a bad way, though

I've done a few tracks by hand which I will scan in

I'm absolutely sure they're going to be as fine as they get, regardless of the level of details - so just bring them on!

Jab, with every track you create and get criticism of you earn experience and your future tracks become better in both physical and graphical sense.

I'm still doodling & constantly refining my tracks...That & I'm always experimenting, so things aren't always turning out as planned. But rest assured, I have some designs on my laptop.

As a side note, any of you upgrade to SketchUp 8? Just wondering what the difference was before I upgraded.

Not much, as far as the editing features go. At least from what I saw.

Well, if my style of hand-drawn line diagrams on chequered paper are accepted, I could participate. I cannot guarantee that I'll have enough time to come up with 4 per month every month, but 2 looks likely. If you prefer digital graphics, I can also submit designs done in Paint that will be rather basic. I don't have the time to learn a CAD type of software at this point.

Hand drawn works fine, and I've very much enjoyed Flaming Wuzzles latest two efforts, as well as a number of your older submissions.

As for Sketch Up 8, I will need a newer computer before I can use it.

Agreed. Your usual quality hand drawn maps are as welcome as any other.

I haven't been designing any tracks lately, my PC is getting an overall maintenance at the moment (just replacing some components and upgrading system performance), and when it's done I'm going to try Blender and see if track designing is easy using it.

Unfortunately, I can't find an appropriate tutorial for designing tracks in Blender.

resir,
if you can wait until later this week (or next week), I'll make a Blender-tutorial (and also a MyTrack-tut) for you.
