Didn't GM say they would race the C6 in the ALMS/LM when they announced the extension to the current ALMS/LM program.

Yes they did. They said it would debut at Sebring in 2005, IIRC. They have gotten rid of the pop-up headlights in front. It kinda reminds me of a Callaway C12. The base Corvette is said to have 400bhp and the Z06, coming out a year later, is rumored to have around 500bhp.

You think we should close this one ? I'm not against it, if Ayse and Paul are agreed, no problem. I just started this one here for what will become the car on ALMS/LM track. It could easely be moved and merged with yours ; more, as you opened it before this one, you have the privilege of anteriority ! Last edited by Fab; 22 Nov 2003 at 19:46. |

No go check- it is in the roadcar forum-
but the merits of the new C6 as the platform for the C6R is the reall mattter. if they come out with a 500 horsepower 6 litre for production, can a severly 'overepowerd' 7 litre LeMans motor be enough to never let Maranello's get close? |

gt, I think if it is at 6 litres now, they should probably keep it there. The 550s enjoyed wider resrictors this year because they ran at 6 litres. RM40, I heard the new Vette will debut after Le Mans '04, in the ALMS. When did you get that info that it will at Sebring '05?
The car seems to have alot of attitude apperance wise. I would venture to say that is a concept, and the actual production run might change looks slightly. Anyway you slice, it won't be long now. Exciting stuff. |

http://forum.granturismo.com/showthr...threadid=82377 < check the last post of this thread. New pictures and a link to a rumor on Autoextremist about a "super" Corvette, rumored with help from McLaren. But would that make sense since wasn't McLaren just bought out by Mercedes-Benz or somewhat?

well the main problem the vette had in aerodynamics compared to the ferraris is that the vette has a larger frontal area than the ferraris. that was one advanatage doug fehan said the ferraris had. unfortunately for fehan the new C6 vete has roughly the same size frontal area as the current C5 vette so the 550's and 575's will still have a aerodynamic advantage. that really helps at the high speed circuts of lemans and road america

I agree with slicktsax's comments on aerodynamics, but going back to gttouring & Chevyguy's comments on engine size, I understood the engine was taken out to seven litres in a seach for more torque to combat the grunt out of the corners of the Viper. As ever, these things are all a matter of striking a balance, and I'm sure whoever finally runs the C6 will consider the best compromise based on the the engine restrictors rules at the time.
