First Time Out With DSLR

First time out over the weekend with my new D70 on the Astra Stages, seemed to have 4 seasons in one day but a good day all round.
I have attached two photo's from my days fun they have darkened a little from the original.
Please comment / advise on them.

Nice pics! I'm yet to try out my D70 properly.

Thanks, the shutter speeds are quite high, but I let the camera do most of the work as it was my first time out. I did alter the ISO as the day went on and the clouds came in, but I was in a clearing in the forest so there was a lot of natural light,
I tried to keep the metering centre wieghted.
The pictures are not cropped at all but reduced in size to fit this forum (400x400), the originals on good size monitor look a lot better, I have some other cars going through the water splash from the front and back some showing a bit more of the scenery and some in tight, all I am pleased with for the first play.
Next time out it's British Superbikes at Oulton, looking forward to that and hopefully spend a lot more time experimenting with my shots.

Don't forget the F1 Testing Days (26-28 April) at Silverstone if you can make it.
