Another new manufacturer?
From the "Thursday morning notes" on the ALMS website:
"ALMS officials have a press conference scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Friday to announce a new manufacturer, a new race sponsor and a new series sponsor". Another SHAW? |

Laurent said a thing similar ("a big announcement") on the Infocourse forum a few days ago

Is it possible that the new manufacturer is Porsche LPM2 related? Possibly for Petit, as rumored before.

Speedsource in conjunction with B-K Motorsport. Speedsource has made a name for themselves running Mazdas in GA Cup, and B-K has been running in Star Mazda.

More good news for the ALMS. The C65 is a good car, not perhaps as good as the Lola but good all the same, lets hope the engine can do the chasis justice.

Speedsource?
Is this the team that was rumoured to have KoRn sponsorship? I thought that turned into vaporware when they weren't on the Sebring entry list like their press release said they would. Reckon Romeo Kapudija is still to drive for them, and more importantly is he any good?

I have just read an article on this story over on DSC. It's very good news and its great to see another manufacturer returning to top line sportscar racing.

Jamie Bach (2002 SCCA Formula Mazda National Champion), and Guy Cosmo (2002 Star Mazda winner, one 2004 ALMS start with American Spirit) are reported as regular drivers. Great news, especially if we really do see this car at Atlanta next month! THe Sportsbook.com involvement in the Atlanta event and a prize at every race is pretty neat too.

FYI there is a follow up report to be found on this at www.dailysportscar.com - looks like this entry should be a top LMP 2 runner, it seems to defintly have the financial backing behind it to be at the top anyway. Will be good to see how it works out.

P2 is really shaping up as the class to watch, GT1 may have the big names but I get the feeling those second tier prototypes will be throwing up the best racing.

For once JAG I agree with u, I too think I can remember something along the lines of the P2 class being written off around a year ago. How wrong those people were.

It's great to see Mazda back and with a real sportscar car series. Just should note that when they won LM they did it with a C2 car. However I could see them in P1 with a 4rotor car in a year or two.

Thanks to Nicolas Cousseau, Infocourse and Virages both posted a pic of what the car would look :
According to David Legangneux encounting, this should be the 14th Courage' chassis. News and article in english on PlanetLeMans, and on the ALMS website Last edited by Fab; 19 Mar 2005 at 05:06. |

It'll be very interesting to see how an extremely well funded Courage entry will fare against the Intersport B05/40, let alone the Porsche effort when it arrives. Can't wait.
