Honestly, I'm starting to think that this provisional guaranteed starting spot system is worse than last year's. All you have to do is be top 42 in points, with the guy 43rd or lower in points having to qualify 36th place or better to make the show, no matter what. It hadn't been an issue until this weekend.

Get rid of provisional's perhaps - get in on qualifying speed?

Yes, I'd like to see the fastest 43, but say that someone like Jimmie or Brad has an engine issue or spinout, thus missing the race and having devastated championship hopes? There should be a more reasonable provisional system, like drivers within a certain amount of points (30-40) who can use the provisional, or only the ones top 10 in points. |

I remember Ryan Villopoto missing a main event in the AMA Supercross Championship last year & he still won the title... If 46 cars enter an event, why cant they all race?
I reckon that unless there are plenty of cautions at Bristol, Kyle Busch will lap half of this field very quickly... |

The stands as empty as I have ever seen them at Bristol. Looks like a NW or Modified crowd.
Pathetic. |

Why is that? The night race is normally sold out isnt it?
Good to see Ambrose still on the lead lap at 300, needs a caution tho to stay there... |

No luck there for Matt Kenseth as Jeff Gordon blows the right front... Waiting for Joey Logano to come up & deal with Denny Hamlin

There are only two major tracks (all the smaller tracks haven't had big drops as well), that have not had major drops in attendance since the economy started getting worse, Las Vegas and Richmond. Think for a second and realise what those two tracks have in common compared to say Bristol, Daytona, or Talladega. |

I give my thumbs up for the race, though I feel bad for the several tire failures. The racing, I felt, was excellent. Racing all over, never any single file follow the leader stuff like what has become so common in the sport.

The "new-new-grinded" Bristol reminds me a lot of Winchester or Salem, fantastic racing.

Racing is fine at Bristol. Too bad the Bristol crowd was more into demolition derby than actual racing.

[QUOTE=NaBUru38;3220723]That's right, the new system punishes part-time drivers who qualify
How does it punnish the part time guys that qualify? if they Q top 35 they are in, last year a part time guy could qualify 4th and if several top teams had problems the 4th place qualifier would miss the race. |

Sounds about right, but I would give Daytona and the Unlimited D's instead. Knowing Nascar, they will throw new rules and things to the cars in an attempt to make the racing more exciting. I hope the "changes" would not mess up the cars for the rest of the other tracks.

Oi! Lay off Front Row Joe. He don't do too bad for a owner/driver who races fulltime in NSCS and NNS and also has to build cars for his son, all on a budget that wouldn't keep Danicant in Bikini's for a year.

Great racing. Shame Kaehne had a small gap so there was no fight for the win.
