Reminders Of Le Mans
Today while looking for bargains in the sales I was in the food hall of M & S when I found pork Rillette, it brought a smile to my face and as it was reduced a smile to my pocket to, I brought some nice bread and rather than cold turkey enjoyed a meal of something I have only ever had in le mans, it was delicious and brought back memories of the bagettes served around the circuit during the race. Does anyone else have these strange but wonderful reminders happen to them.

Yep
Every time skiing in the French Alps and you find someone selling Grand Marnier Crepes. It always reminds me of the village and then I have to buy one. |

Rilettes always do it - although to be honest the meme they evoke is more redolent of winter business trips out to that part of the world.
Perhaps bizarrely, around Christmas when I'm ferreting around in the loft pulling down various decorations etc and I spot bits and pieces like the tent and camp stove really bring things to mind - not least because it reminds me I really should consolidate where all that sort of thing lives to reduce blood pressure the night before departure in June. I've got six months - who's willing to bet there's still a mad chase around trying to find things pre leaving? |

Calvados. Like it, but generally only have it at Le Mans - pick up a bottle of it at Carrefour and enjoy it on the what always seem to be cold Saturday nights.
Whatever makes it home will sometimes come out and then straightaway it's back to Le Mans and almost expecting to hear a loud Corvette engine to go with the taste... |

For me it's shampoo. Weird, I know, but for some reason I always run out of shampoo at Le Mans and have to buy a bottle of Le Petit Marseillais at the Carrefour. So when I get home I ration it out...
And every time I use it I am transported back to les douches at Karting Nord. Trying to keep my clothes dry on the hook while punching the button on the shower to keep the spray going long enough to rinse my hair. Remembering to grab my pass and lanyard off the hook when I leave. Remembering that a shower at Le Mans is like heaven... keke |

Besides the pretty obvious The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary (great song btw, and always puts a smile on my face) there seem to be other songs that get played a lot/most often every year at Radio Le Mans.
Just heard this one on the radio, and immediately thought back at some grassy field over in France http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJLDjYRfx3g |

Poor Form.
On the subject of rillettes, in my local Lidl supermarket they had jars of "coarse pork pate" as part of their Christmas range, it was a sort of Rillette Lite and perfectly passable along with some stinky cheese and a glass of the finest wines available to humanity. I also caught some dreadful cooking programme on the television over the festive period that featured merguez sausages as if they were the most exotic thing ever not the staple of a Le Mans BBQ. Finally, the turning of the calendar from 31/12/12 to 01/01/13 sees my mental countdown switch from "time since the last Le Mans" to "time until the next Le Mans". |

Well, as I have only been to Le Mans once, I haven't managed to produce such clear reminders of the track itself.
However, as you who participate in the chat knows, Nuggets has been a Must have when ever i watched Le Mans at home. Therefor when ever I'm lazy and just buy nuggets, I think of Le Mans |

This little number always reminds me of Le Mans. A combination of listening to it during the week, and Jonny Mowlem saying it was one of the tracks he relaxes too out of the cockpit on Radio Le Mans whilst we were stuck in a typical Friday traffic jam between the two chicanes on the Mulsanne straight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mzklb9nkXM |

When I have barbies at home for a few weeks after, what I first think is a Group C car blasting around the Porsche curves is infact a Kawasaki on the A14 Another two reminders for me are dusty paths and the smell of dying grass. |

Can't say I have ever noticed the smell of browning grass, grass usually means hayfever to me and then i can't smell much. A good few years ago I remember it being so hot that the tinder dry grass would catch fire in the campsites boy that did smell
