Champcar and Technowizardy
What i really love about Champ cars is they are just cool. They tackle every kind of circuit, and they have only enough in the way of technology to make them what they are OpenWheel Supremos. No Traction control- that's for the driver right foot, or F1. No launch control, control tyre, (basically engine and chassis this year and next)Big Boost and Turbos-to the common man this turbo is the HIghest and fastest tech piece. (how we all love and miss f1 turbo era)
no power steering. and lever gear change. it is as romantic as openwheel raing gets- the drivers have to manhandle and dance with these finicky mistress' of the tarmac. wher F1 is very technolgy driven and the driver must dance on a wire with those. although this is not a comparo of the 2 openwheelies what i am getting at is- what is the problem with Champcars? they fall in the open ground between the lower tech NASCAR, a pinch up is IRL, then the might Champcars- and tech princes in F1. why would you consider losing that great turbo 'popping' and whistling and cracking? and that wicked menacing battle cry of the champcar turboV8's? and the cazy laps with cars with no TC and how you can see them fighting for every tenth-nay hundreth of a sec per lap. Gordon Kirby at http://www.cart.com/News/Article.asp?ID=7154 say he like more tech to bring in the 'mercedes owner crowd' and no wings just ground effects... what the hell Champcars are surviving and thriving thanks to FOrd and OWRS guys and the lusty fans... |

Poetic post, gt, albeit rather hard to read.
Safe to say that most fans love the game for the same reasons as you do. We should all email Rocketsports, PK and Forsythe expressing our love for the turbo! (Reality says that the manufacturers will get what the manufacturers want) I like the tech the way it is now, superior to NASCAR yet cheaper than F1. I may warm to the idea of a spec-ECU, but ChampCars MUST have wings. Otherwise... They just ain't ChampCars anymore. A N/A car with no wings would be too much "culture-shock" for me! |
