TV Coverage

I've become a huge fan of CART since Channel 5 began it's coverage in 1999, but since they started covering the NASCAR, i'm unsure as to weather CART will get a look in? Does anybody know if any UK terrestrial channel is planning coverage in 2002?

Seems no channel legally availiable in UK is covering it this year. I have seen almost ever race live since I got satellite in 1989.

I've jsut checked the Eurosport times (just in case)and I couldn't see it.

I can't believe no one is going to show it. I'll really miss it this year...

British Eurosport will be showing a one hour highlights programme of the first race on March the 17th at 9pm (UK time). This coming Sunday they will be showing the opening IRL race from Miami at around 7pm (I think?). Presumably all races for both series (possibly minus the Indy 500) will be shown in this way for the rest of the year.

Channel 5 currently has no contract to show CART in any shape of form. The BBC should still show the Rockingham race again either live or delayed by a day.

Compared to last years coverage it has to be said that this sucks, but I guess one week late is better than nothing atall!

Logan.

CART on TV

I've checked the listings on the web site and the on-screen TV guide from NTL and can't find ANY mention of CART at all for E-sport or British E-sport, there's nothing on Channel 5 either. What a complete and utter load of rubbish. What the hell are CART playing at??? Well if more teams defect to the IRL in 2003 there won't be a CART series anyway so it won't matter too much, but I just can't believe that its not going to get any coverage over here, looks like I'll have to watch the IRL this year to get my fix of Indy racing.............

thanks hakkiman- I've read somewhere that Sky Sports 2 are showing it on Thursday evening at 7pm- the programme guide apparently says "Motor racing", I think i'll go with SS2's coverage- its bound to be better than whatever e-sport decide to show (if they bother at all)

It isn't any better in Canada... This weekends race isn't being shown in English until Monday. It is however being shown live in French on RDS.

Get SpeedVision, Jay. The coverage this year will be fantastic. It was great to get home from work Friday night and watch a tape of the provisional qualifying! Surely it's available on your cable system there.

Well it's Sunday morning and my hope for a last minute deal is slipping! (to say the least!) Why haven't we got a deal here in the UK? I thought that Eurosport were going to show it, especially after last year when the coverage was very good. I hope SKY (well anybody) get it.

Does "close to announcing" deals mean before tonight! ha!

I think not.
But it will be before April 14th!

Meanwhile if you haven't done so yet, set up AB Moteurs.
If you have Skydigital in the UK, go outside and move your dish nine degrees (that's about 3 inches) to the left (your left as you face it).

Then go back inside and press SERVICES, 4, 4 on your remote.
Enter the following details:
12.266
H
27.5
3/4

Press SELECT, and a list of channels will appear. AB Moteurs should be at the top, press the YELLOW button so that it is ticked, then press SELECT again.
Press BACKUP to get to the main menu, then 6 for your other channels list. Use the arrow keys to select AB Moteurs and press SELECT.

Enjoy your viewing.

or just get another digital reciever. Im looking forward to watching live Cart tonight on ABmoteurs , but i really hope that Cart do a deal with SKY so we can watch it with proper English commentry .

There is live commentry on the cart.com tonight , so i will turn the sound down on abmoteurs and just have the picture . Eventhough there is a fairly big time delay on the internet.

I'm not going to fiddle about with my satellite dish. It'll all go wrong I just know it.

Looks like its cart.com for live timing and audio. Hopefully they'll sort something out before Long Beach.

I've got a feeling this race won't be much cop anyway, especically if it rains. Remember Portland last year...

That is a very stupid thing to recommend somebody to do, especially when they find out that to re-turn the dish to Astra 2 will cost them £150 when they cannot get it back, and they won't.

It's also doubly stupid because the Sky minidish is too small to pick up Astra 1.

If you want proper instructions look here:

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=19223

Next time you have bright idea sceptic, be dam sure to tell them what can happen and what it will cost them if they get it wrong, also have a go at it yourself, finding Astra 1 is the easy bit, getting the dish to then re-find Astra 2 is the very hard bit.

I'm also getting fed up at telling you people that ABMoteurs have european exclusive rights to CART for this year, so unless eurosport or anybody else strike up a deal with ABMoteurs, then it's not going to be shown live anywhere but ABMoteurs.

------------------

@Silvers95, the audio is behind on Cart.com, so you'll see it first on ABMoteurs

Incase anyone was wondering, International TV announcement expected before Long Beach. Check out the rumours page on autoracing1.com if you want to see for yourselves.

I think there are enough people hacked off with the failure of any channel to offer the Caer series to make a difference. What say er all get together and make one hell of a big complaint to all major channels. It would be difficult to organise, but my guess is they would sit up and take notice. I worked in the media until I retired and I know they are scared of alienating a sizable minority.

It's worth a try. At first we would all get the same reply to everything, but at least they will know they would get a lot of viewers if they showed it. Theres nothing to lose by giving it a go.

I think you are underestimating people's intelligence! It is quite easy to align a dish without spending any money (and even an independent installer wold only charge GBP30 to align a dish - you only pay 150 if you use Sky's own technicians). The sky digibox even has a signal stength meter to help with the fine tuning.

Providing you are not in Scotland or Northern Ireland, where I agree you would need a bigger dish, the 48cm minidish is quite adequate for the newer Astra 1 satellite (F, G and H) including the AB channels.

If that were true, why would Octagon CSI have spent the last week trying to convince other broadcasters across Europe to part with some money to show races live?
