BTCC Knockhill Race Weekend
Free Practice is halfway through and at the moment it's looking very competitive, several different makes at the top of the timesheets so far.
Strangely it's also Dry! We'll see how long that holds out |

And a 17 car field.
1 more and it would almost be respectable! |

17 car field - Lets hope all of them start the races. Just wish we had a more solid field with Anthony Reid and a few other ex BTCC drivers who are left out.

Howell being the fastest Dynamics car is interesting. I'm fine with a 17-car grid, they've often produced mroe excitement than the WTCC has with twice as many cars. WSR look to be on the pace, which is also encouraging.

Yes I forgot Gareth Howell, and even though the BTCC grids are small comapred to the WTCC grids, as mentioned yu can never copy the magic of the BTCC.

Great result for Howell
Looks like the racing should be good, 17 cars, i believe thats the biggest grid this year isnt it? And the Lexus' are not at the back, infact the back 4 or 5 i can see having quite a dice. Shame its not live on TV this weekend |

Looks like it could be a good weekend for SEAT/Collard/Turkington. Might turn out to be a bad weekend for Matt Neal, he slid off at McIntyres in FP1. Fiona Leggate ended the session after spinning off at the chicane.

Also the races last year were some of the best touring car racing we have seen.

It seems FP2 was brought to an abrupt halt, after James Pickford lost control of his Toledo at the chicane, hit the barriers and rolled the car. But he was back out for Qualifying.
Qualifying Results: 2005 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship - CLASSIFICATION - QUALIFYING ROUND 22 POS NO CL DRIVER NAT CAR TIME LAPS GAP MPH 1 6 Colin TURKINGTON GBR Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch 54.076 22 86.45 2 25 I Gareth HOWELL GBR Honda Integra 54.173 24 0.097 86.29 3 2 Yvan MULLER FRA Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch 54.225 23 0.149 86.21 4 5 I Matt NEAL GBR Honda Integra 54.233 27 0.157 86.20 5 8 I Dan EAVES GBR Honda Integra 54.255 19 0.179 86.16 6 9 I Tom CHILTON GBR Honda Civic Type-R 54.373 25 0.297 85.97 7 11 Jason PLATO GBR SEAT Toledo Cupra 54.467 24 0.391 85.83 8 10 I James KAYE GBR Honda Civic Type-R 54.520 20 0.444 85.74 9 88 Gavin SMITH IRL Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch 54.543 23 0.467 85.71 10 57 Luke HINES GBR SEAT Toledo Cupra 54.633 23 0.557 85.57 11 21 I Rob COLLARD GBR MG ZS 54.780 20 0.704 85.34 12 12 James PICKFORD GBR SEAT Toledo Cupra 55.058 14 0.982 84.91 13 36 I Jason HUGHES GBR MG ZS 55.593 26 1.517 84.09 14 23 I Mark PROCTOR GBR Vauxhall Astra Coupe 55.908 18 1.832 83.61 15 77 I Richard WILLIAMS GBR Lexus IS200 56.159 27 2.083 83.24 16 78 I Ian CURLEY GBR Lexus IS200 56.471 28 2.395 82.78 17 82 I Fiona LEGGATE GBR Vauxhall Astra Coupe 56.652 10 2.576 82.52 No matter how light his car is that's still a good showing from Howell, Plato's dissapointed me a bit with that positon, as has Collard. What happened to them. BTCC.net notes Turkington's time was the fastest ever lap by a BTCC car round Knockhill. (I presume 2001 on regs..) |

Excellent work from Howell...great field, WTCC looks a bit insane aswell, not to mention the DTM Opel assention (for a day no doubt). |

Muller vs Neal clearly turning into something of a strange love-hate relationship |

Having abandoned being at the circuit after just an hour this morning, I'm warm at home and enjoying watching the wet races on the TV

As heard on TV:
Team Dynamics have appealed against Muller's 2 points (licence, not championship) endorsement in race one...(that's kind of them) |

What a dirty move by Plato to take Howell out on the finish straight when the safety car was out.

Just came on to talk about that, I'd welcome the black flag for that one, that was an absolutely foul move by Plato.
