Triple Eight.

just had this thought.

triple eight are preparing the barwell astras next year.
triple eight have the contract to prep the works astras.

where does egg come into this? ?

surely 888 arent going to prepare 6 cars.

my personal thought is that the works astras will be sponsored by egg as vauxhall said that they would require extra funding to run a two car team.

any thoughts?

I'm not to clear on this myself.....But I imagine that under the new BTC regs its not strictly neccessary to build new 'factory' cars each year as opposed to the ST era when new aero packages/gearboxes, etc could be developed.

I don't think the EGG deal is certain, I would guess that they are awaiting the outcome of the TV deal. In terms of the works cars I am not sure to what extent they are fully funded, which may have implications for the driver line up, if this years BTCC has proved anything, its shown that you don't need to pay a driver £300k to run at the front and win races. This means that either Muller will have to take a massive pay cut or look elsewhere for employment.

I would guess the outcome will be 4 cars two Barwell and Two 888 part funded maybe by EGG. I have read mention of the Barwell cars being built into new shells, but this doesn't neccesarily mean complete new cars.

From what I've read it seems that 888 are making the only customer version 02 spec cars for Barwell.

Therefore assuming that the 4 cars of 01 spec are availbe too?

or

Vauxhall are retaining these for thier own use as 02 contenders?

I'm still confused:confused:
