Where will Nick Heidfeld be for 2003?

Okay, I've posted a few threads on Heidfeld, but this will be the last one for a while. The question is:
Where do you think he will be for 2003?

I don't see any other team taking him up for next season, sadly. I hope I'm wrong, though. Nick _really_ deserves to move up. Sadly, there are a lot of quality drivers in F1 right now, and money, politics and marketability are really making all the difference in who gets which ride.

I've still got everything crossed in hope that Ron Dennis will finally sign Nick for 2003.

But my head says he'll stay at Sauber. Damn you Ron Dennis!!!!

I think he will be "stuck" in a Sauber in '03 as well.

I voted Sauber - not because I wanted him to saty there but because I saw no other opportunity for him. It could be a lot worse though - he could be stuck with Arrows, Minardi, Eddie Jordan or even Jaguar (ugh!!) . So I suppose we can thank God for small mercies.

My bet would be Sauber too as if he goes to teams other than the top 3, then he'll definitely suffer a decline and most probably jeapordize his career in formula1.

Interesting comment.

I also think Nick will be driving for Sauber next year. I would love to see him in a McLaren, but I don't think it will happen next year. Maybe 2004?

I also think Nick will be in Sauber next year. Also I want to see him in McLaren, (at least to confirmate what the efforts of driver developing programs can finish in a good end with fruitful results!).

As much as i want Heidfeld to go to McLaren, i hate to see DC go....if anybody can clinch the WDC for the Macs, that'll be DC. I still think it's a mistake for Ron to choose Raikonnen over Heidfeld last year

so he's turning into a proper Sauber driver then?

If he wants to carry on scoring points, he should stay.

1995 (possibly), 1998 and 1999 (definatly), in these years DC had the best car and he couldn't do the job! People will argue favourtism in Mika's case but if DC is the man for the job he would have got around that!

Why do so many people hang onto the dream that DC is a future WDC? this is his 9th season in F1 and the closest he's managed is a distant 2nd in the WDC (last year). Kimi has shown already that he deserves to be at McLaren, it wasn't a mistake to take Kimi over Nick, it's a mistake to keep DC!

If DC was the man for the job, he wouldve gotten McLaren to awknowledge that, and the favourtism would be coming his way. But it didn't.

McLarens future does not lie with DC, it definatly lies with Heidfeld.

Perhaps DC and Heidfeld should switch seats, allthough I can imagine Peter Sauber finding DC too old.

To post on topic: Heidfeld will stay at Sauber and so will Massa.

I do not think that another year will kill Heidfelds carriere, but I do think its a waste of talent.

If I were Heidfeld I would seriously consider going to Toyota. They are a factory team with a lot of potential and Heidfeld being a young driver with good technical expertise could go there and become an integral part of that team. Salo and McNish are both long in the tooth and good for the tea now, but Heidfeld with some hard work could really make the team his for the long term. Staying at Sauber with last years Ferrari engine is just a waste of time.

I dont care what people say about DC saying that he's staying at Mclaren . I think Ron will let DC go and put Nick in his place.

Nick for Mclaren.

It's just the wrong time for Nick. If only he were 2 years younger he'd have teh world on a plate. As it is, he'll probably stay at Sauber. McLaren are likley to announce Coulthard for another year at Hockehiem along with Hakkinen's retirement(Raikkonen pretty much signed & sealed). Toyota will sign Wurz and Sack McNish (even though he's lived up to all the expectations).

1996........same as TGF, they are both in their 7th seasons with their respective teams (although we have to allow for TGF's missing races in 1999)

I think that Mika holds the record at the moment, 8 wholes seasons (1994-2001) plus 3 races for McLaren in '93.
