Challenge - Chippily
Morning/Afternoon/Evening All...
OK. Sorry if this is too much, but here's another little challenge I thought I'd entertain you all with. When I 'draw' my street circuits (I've been drawing a lot of them lately), I first draw the circuit and then the surroundings. Well, after I drew it, I thought I'd set a challenge for you guys to design a circuit of your own. Rules are simply, you must maintain access to AND from all 4 access roads in and out of the town. You cannot create your own roads, except for places where two roads which do not touch 'almost' touch, you can create some. The rough distance would be, lets say, 1km is the stretch of the beach. I'll post what I've created later. Enjoy. Also, if you want to, see if you can figure out where I originally drew the circuit. Remembering that it was the first thing I drew! |

Not bad Lust. Little bit over 5km I presume. Didn't follow the rule though mate. No access to North-West Road.

A bit more twisty than Lustigson's with one Piece of added tarmac to form the Hairpin (which is probably too tight but never mind).
It runs clockwise and has the typically dangerous pit exit. |

ScotsBrutesFan, not bad. Fast flowing corners with some tight bits as well. Didn't follow rules though.
mandretti, not bad, I like it. Didn't follow the rules, although you could argue you can have cars going on the other side of the round about. MattA1. I like the track honestly. I love short and simple. You've placed seats on entire blocks. I think you've probably bought into some homes. Now for my version. Click here It's very short, only 10 corners. Clockwise. On the detail map, the green is the extent of the area where you must pay to enter (unless your a resident). I've used most of the main highway as 'paddock' areas. You can read up on the track if anyone can be bothered. Opinions would be great! |

Heh, where I placed seats, I deemed those were grassy 'field blocks' where there is no houses on them, just grass, and the long sweeping one is on a hillside.

Here is my go, it runs anti clockwise and has a Long beach style hairpin at the end.

Here's mine.
I made a new road across the park, I don't know if it meets your definition of roads that "don't quite touch" Since within the centre of town there aren't many really good roads to use, I concentrated on giving it lots of long-ish straights instead and enough length. I also made it a priority to maintain good access to the school though it isn't mentioned in the rules. IMAGE |

So here's my try at this:
About the colors: pale brownish: track blue: pitlane yellow: paddock (I hope that's enough space for a proper paddock) green: non-permanent bridges for access roads or footpassengers As you can see, the track runs anticlockwise, has a few mickeymouse-ish sections in places and I've built these nonpermanent bridges to allow access to the infield, which is especially important because of the hospital. I hope you'll like it (as well as I hope my html works, since this is a 1st for me on this board.) Bye Yannick |
