Barcelona Practice/Qually/Race
Well with no TV coverage at all so far this year...or good ole 'Radio 5 Live Extra' ...thank goodness for Live Timing...So lets guess at what went on in the first practice session...First lap times of 1.29's suggests the track started wet and dried out by the time the two Ferrari's came out to show their rivals and Michelin that Bridgestone are back! Massa's last lap of 1.15.796 even if he was running on fumes was within one tenth of the V10 lap record, bumping all the 3rd drivers down the order.
Roll on the pm session where we should hopefully see everyone come out to play! |

Not much happening at the moment in FP2, and the track seems to be 2 seconds slower than this morning...?

Congratulations to Rennen for is all encompassing thread title, should be getting close to the record for length by early next week.
Let's hope the second session provides a bit more entertainment (damn that engine rule). |

Montoya ripping off his wing mirror by hand and throwing it over the side was pretty entertaining..
And you you think Doornbos' good time was set with super light fuel & everything turned up to justify him stepping into Kleins seat? |

BAR busy with qualifying setup as usual..shame they dont seem to be willing to score good racesetups |

Well everyone went out to play in the 2nd session, that's more like it! Honda use the 2nd session for long tyre evaluation runs, AD racking up the most laps with 38 laps in 3 runs. I was impressed with his 3rd run fastest lap which stayed at the top of the time sheet despite last minute flyers from M$ and other 3rd drivers keen to topple him but all failed! More important was that Honda's 3rd car clocked up 63 consistant laps today (only 3 short of the GP distance) Lets hope the pappered 'Garage Queen' cars last the distance this time! Alonso on pole then, an absolute barnstorming lap! The crowd certainly enjoyed it!
Fisi right with him......the Ferraris on row two. Rubens outqualifies Jenson again. McLaren absolutely miserable again. |

Godd to see Fisi showing his real speed. But what about fuel loads?

Very happy for barrichello.
Mc Laren had a day they should forget. Don't they realise that a heavy fuel load is costing them too much time? |

Apparently they misfuelled JPM for the final session, just a rumour of course. Could just have been plain slow.
So in answer to your question maltafan....no. |

MS made no secret that they were setup for the race. That could mean he has more fuel than FA, but I think he may have been referring more to the cars down force. The inboard camera in practice, with little rear wing, showed a twitchy Ferrari. I doubt Michael would want to drive an entire GP like that. Were the Ferrari trap speeds down in the final qualy, I wonder (from 311 kph recorded in practice)?

KR said that the car handles much better with a heavy fuel load. So they may have no choice but to run with a lot of fuel. I think the Ferraris have more fuel than the Renaults. It will be interesting. |

I think renault also used mor new tyres during qualy, which together with the supposed fuel load, should provide for an exciting race.
by the way, did villeneuve slow down a bit on his last try in Q2 to let heidfeld enter the top 10 ?? |

Barichello ahead of button...
Button complaning of simular problems to last week. Despit Hondas efforts i dont think its enough for either of them to have the sucess they hoped this year... A Renault one,two is most certanitly a good start. But the Ferrari has more straight line speed |

and did jaques slow down in his last attempt in Q2 to let heidfeld stay in the top ten ? |
