Vincent Woodman
Hi all, I received the following email mail from James Woodman.
Self explanatory but if we can send him any info it would be great. Quote:

1979, round of the Tricentrol British Saloon car Championship. Vince came second, and joined the others in/on the back of. I think, a converted Capri for the podium finishers lap of hounour. I was a 16 year old pit marshal and as they came back, I yelled out "Giz yer cap".
Vince said "You cheeky bugger, I had to work hard for this", grinned and then passed it to me. I still have it. Always made sure afterwards to go and say hello to him, and he always remembered me. |

Mike told me at the time that he was quite honoured to speak to Vince, who was considering buying Lairy Canary as he had just sold his race car. Unfortunately this was at the time Vince had his stroke and now CCA are auctioning Lairy Canary and the rest of Mike’s collection for the Bell family following his passing.

Sounds a lovely idea!
I've had a few chats with Vince over the years and a bit of correspondence with him when he replied to a letter I wrote to Pete Clark and Dave Cook at CC way way back when I was a lad and he was pedalling the 635. He sent me a signed pic of the 635 rounding Church at Thruxton. I mentioned this to him at Mallory's special saloon reunion meeting a few years ago. He couldn't recall the specific picture but his response in his laconic Bristolian accent was "Wow, that sounds like a rare picture, that does. Did I have a smile or a grimace? Suspect I was just hanging on and hoping for the best!" We had a good chuckle!! |

Could you scan the pic and I'll put it together with your post and send it on?
