Lotus Elise series scrapped
It's official... something that many of us have been expecting for a while... the Lotus Elise series is no more. I guess it was inevitable after being dropped from the TOCA support bill...

Not sure about 2000, but Fullalove and Breese are both keen to move from up from the 2001 series into BTCC.

FPA, now Lotus. It shows that, at top national level, arrive 'n drives don't work.
I feel a lot sadder for Lotus than FPA, though. The cars looked the biz. and I think Lotus genuinely tried to keep the cars equal, but if you ever talked to the drivers someone was always complaining that there were gearbox or engine problems. One even tried to have the Spa race result scrapped at an MSA tribunal because there were so many problems which meant it couldn't have been a fair race - it was in a recent copy of the MSA's Motorsports Now mag. At another round last year there was a gang of them threatening a revolt outside the Lotus motorhome, but in the end they all backed down. Still, a great shame as they really tried and seemed like good people running it. |

Its a shame that the series didn't work out for this year, but it is better it be scrapped than just a handful of cars out there.
