Good Karter=Good car racer?????

what is your opinnion, is that always the case? if you are good in karts , are you good in cars?, and can you be good at cars being bad at karting? intersting

In my opinion it does help but karting do not mean anything is separate, you can be good in Karting and never do it at cars.

very interesting topic actually and sadly I must have to say NO , not always, it certainly helps being a karter when you move into cars because you know the basics such as racing lines,steering control, close competitive racing and so on , but that doesnt always translate into results when you move into cars.
you start learning all over again in cars with things like , gears, suspension set up , wings if its a wing class and lots of other stuff , but karting sure gives you a good grounding to start from , but just because you may become karting world champion doesnt mean you will be F1 world champ.

I think this can apply right throughout the racing world. If you're good in one thing (karts, FF, FRenault, F3, F3000, CART, F1, touring cars, rally cars, sportscars), it doesn't necessarily mean you will be good at another thing.

I believe a good kart racer has a better chance of being a good car driver, but it is by no means inevitable. Likewise, I don't believe it is essential to do karts, in order to successfully race cars. The problem with that is actually getting a chance. Who will hire a guy with no racing experience?

Look at Formula Renault ... Green, Hamilton and Lloyd consistently at the front despite being aged just 19/20, 17 and 17 respectively. Karting is certainly the pedigree.

well, i think it helps to be good at karting!look at ronnie quintarelli, he´s leading the Super A championship and the formula volkswagen, too.
it´s the same with pantano and liuzzi for example
on the other hand theres rob nguyen, i think he has never done karting, but is doing well in cars, too

I don't think it's as simple as the poll suggests - there's been useless karters do well in cars, and there's been good karters just stagnate. It's an advantage having the experience but it's not a guarantee of anything

In the right team, an average karter looks good in cars. In the wrong team, a good karter looks average in cars.

Its the starter for any motorsport career. Ask any driver today and they'll say the early you get in an cart and start racing the better it is down the track. I've done that this year by taking it up as an school sport and look i won 2 races !

We do it at an place called Sidetracked. They have Beast of cars and the tracks very basic but its a fun way to spend your saturday moring. The parity cames into play there!!

I can't realy say much about this because i'm still in karts but i know people in cars and they say it helps to come up through the ranks of karting.

I think that karting has produced a lot of good drivers but their finacial circumstances have also been a huge factor. If you have the money behind you then you have an even better chance of picking up a ride regardless of your racing ability.

PS - I wish they had karting as a school sport when I was at school......what school do you go to, obviously not a Public one.
