Motors Tv

Is anybody else having problems receiving Motors TV, or is it just me?? I have not been able to get a picture for about a week now.

Think motors TV might have gone from free to subscription lately.

Jim, I too had this problem a few days ago. Are u getting the message: "No sattelite signal is being received"? If so, doing the following may fix the problem it has done for me and a few others but of course theres no guarntees this is just a idea. Unplug ur sky box and remove the viewing card, after 1 minute or so re plug the wire into the box and wait for Sky to ask u to insert ur viewing card, after this is done and everything has started up again try going to the Motors TV channel and see if u can pick up the channel once more. I did this and it worked for me and a few other people that have been having this problem, it took a while for the TV listings to come back fully but they did after a few minutes or so and the problem now seems to have gone away. Good luck.

Yeah they have, but anyone who is on the Sky family pack (the base line sky package) should be able to receive the channel. The channel however is no longer free to air, so if ur in the UK at least u will need a subscription to Sky to receive the channel.

I have the full Sky package. However the picture is in little blocks most of the time. You can some times see a still picture. I will try the above fixes later. Thanks for the help

Tech bit

Motors is now encrypted, so yes you do need a Sky Subscription. If you have a subscription and still get problems, then try a reset as explained by SALEEN S7R. It is transmitted on frequency 11307v, so check to see if other channels from there work:
Nation217
Simply Shopping
Simply Home
Simply Ideas

If you are getting problems with those, then you may have a problem with the box or LNB on your dish. I have found out that some older boxes or the bit hanging on the end of the dish (LNB) are 'dropping' some channels. Get a neighbor to plug their box into your dish to see if they get the channels ok.

resetting the box by unplugging it worked for me, that happened straight after they switched to the encrypted signal.

Your are correct. The other channels also show just stills on half the screen.
Is there and quick fix for this, or do I need to call sky for an engineer. Probably expensive.

Check locally and see if you have an independant company who do Sky installation they are usually a lot cheaper and a lot quicker than dealing with Sky.

Still waiting to see what the outcome is from Motors TV forums, too many customers with same faults to be an end-user equipment issue.

Local satilite company charged less but didn't sort the (similar) problem I had; at least Sky sorted it all out and offered back up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am moving this thread to Parc Ferme as it really doesn't have too much to do with the Marshals Forum. Being the nice sort of chap that I am, I will leave a redirect here just in case you think I have sold it to some wealthy Arabs or something...

Strange story. I have had satellite TV since 1989 and have never lost one or more channels that I recall. Motors TV did break up for a few minuites last week, and their sound is often not good. I think the problem is their uplink, not our equipment. When you get a problem, switching off and resetting usually works, but this applies to all channels. Sky have changed something recently as the 'MusicChoice' service has dissapeared from my 'favourites' box-takes about 5 mins to find it each time now!

This is all very strange.
Tonight the Sky box turned itself off, then came back on. Motors TV has returned.
Thanks for all your advice.

sometimes sky goes wrong just cos of a bit of static if you give it a light tap with a washing line holder upper then it sometimes sorts it out.

Just a suggestion; maybe we could have a 'general motorsport' forum, for matters that don't fit elsewhere?

That'll be Parc Ferme then... The reason this was moved here is that this is the ideal place for it.
