Regarding the Astromega driver line up
Tony Schmidt is the only driver confirmed for Team Astromega
Today, Nov 15th 2002 Tony Schmidt signed for Team Astromega. Previous to our press releases in the past, Tony is the only driver that is confirmed for next year. |

I have no idea...it's getting complicated I guess, it's becomming some kind of soap...what i don't understand is the fact that Rob was confirmed as a driver, and suddenly he isn't...i mean: did he sign or not? It's kind of weird that he wasn't present at the recent Hockenheim test...but i really hope that he will drive for the team next season...

Heylen is offered the second astromega-seat, but of course he needs to come up with a huge budget, as is always the case... but if he makes it'll very interesting to see how he'll do. He migt upset a few people, I guess, because he is a very good driver.

Jan is one of the nicest young drivers I had the pleasure of meeting and is very focussed on the tasks ahead of him. I wish him good luck in securing the funding and drive to take him through to F3000

he's a top bloke, but i think he'd be better in f3. f3000 doesn't get anyone anywhere....

But Rob is the future. They signed him with the intention of letting him learn everything in 2002 and being a contender in 2003.
Unless Rob's got a better offer - maybe CART? maybe F1 testing? maybe a better F3000 team? |

Rob could end up in the Astromega Formula Renault team.
Just like Toyota did with Briscoe, take him out when he's not ready for it...if he is in F3000 for a 2nd year without results, it could damage his career. |

But Rob got good results last year. There's no way he would step down. He was supposed to be their lead driver in 2003.

one of the Formule Renault Monza cars is for a Belgian driver, but personally i doubt that he would step down...i think he will be in F3000, why woudn't he?Why risk so much last season, putting him in the car (looking at experience)
