Formula One Formula Joke
How can we call Formula One the ultimate, when the racings rubbish, if you go to a race your fleeced, you can't get near the drivers. I saw a little girl wait 2 hours to see schuee, and he walked straight into his motorhome.
f1 needs to take some lessons of nascar and irl, which caters to put on a great racing spectacle, and give real race fans fantastic value for money. |

Your right Simon, the only way for us to stop the demise of the sport is for everybody to stop watching it. Their is a lot to be said for people power. The sooner the manufacturers start their own championship the better.

Well F1 is the ultimate motor racing.
Currently it is not the most exciting and fan friendly. But you have to look on the bright side. Michael and Ferrari are in a world of their own, and win a vast majority of the races, but there are moments in Football when it gets boring, for example Arsenal haven’t lost for 49 games, now that's what you call domination. Ferrari's dominance shall not last much longer. To be honest I think this year was just a blip. BAR and Renault improved but Mclaren and Williams have got worse and Ferrari are just magic. But what you are seeing now is history, and it probably shall not happen again. Just take the rough with the smooth. I used to be frustrated especially after a brilliant '03 season. But I can ensure you '05 shall be a cracker. Haven’t the last 4 races been great? You have just got to give it time. If you are a real F1 fan you would accept it. Steve Magill sounds like he's just started a thread to bait F1.
A manufacturers championship would be worse than what we have now. Keep the faith with F1! |

Accept the joke we call racing, no way. I watched the 1972 & 1973 season on tv in germany last week, now let me tell you THAT'S RACING. Drivers side by side with their cars sliding, and if you screw up your dead. Now they are brave proper drivers, not like the pre madonas we have nowadays.

Every year we are told next years racing will be better, every year its not. The fans know what will make the racing better, its a pity the people that are getting paid millions don't

There is not 1 singal penny F1 drivers don't earn. Every other Sunday afternoon the drivers risk there lives. The only danger we have is falling off our chairs. Sure the cars are much safer now days but at the moment there have been some serious crashes and we have been lucky they were not fatally injured. Last edited by luke; 19 Oct 2004 at 20:20. |

I think its more dangerous for me to cross the roads near me, than for the F1 boys to race for an hour and 20 min.

Sure it's not as dangerous as it used to be, but isn't that a good thing?

I am not saying I want to see anyone hurt. I am on a friends laptop.
i race myself and have driven on many of the top european circuits, and the most exciting are the ones with the most risks. If you speak to any true racer, these are the tracks they enjoy. The modern circuits are so sanitised, you can fall of anywhere and know you will walk away, whats the risk in that, where is the challenge? |

I agree with you there mate.
I also race Karts, and we have a really daunting corner that you can only just take flat out, although if you just happened to go side ways your ****** and that would be the end of that chapter. It's a great trill that is unexplainable unless you are a fellow racer. I take it you have raced at spa? |

Yes Luke, and iv'e just returned from monza and Imola.
Now they are proper circuits, but because they dont have fancy facilities, for the f1 poussers to use, they are not acceptable. But I thought it was about racing? KEEP IT ON THE BLACK STUFF. Best wishes |

NASCAR
If I wanted to watch such utter rubbish I'd simply stand in the middle of the roundabout at the end of my road. [EDIT: As your NASCAR comment is, I'm sure the poster is just expressing his opinion /EDIT] Last edited by Adam43; 19 Oct 2004 at 21:44. |

Welcome to the F1 forum Ray (ooo, may I suggest you register your own username). Good to see some more racers amongst us.
To defend Schumacher, he has a lot of people to see, he can't see them all. He and the other drivers often cite this as a problem. Also an attitude is hardly the sole domain of the F1 drivers Also it strikes me that it is easier to knock than tackle the biggies of the whys and hows. What is the purpose of F1 (or indeed more generally motorsport)? Why is F1 so successful despite this? Do we like the other parts of motorsport because they are more unpopular and hence 'cooler'? How can F1 be improved? Is it the simple aero problems? The manufacturers are bad for F1, yet a lot of the other series crave them... Should F1 adopt a final five race shoot-out, similar to NASCAR? Should it only race on ovals and limit the wings? and on and on. There are some subjects that regularly get discussed on the F1 forum, check them out, start some more. And I'll end on some luke-esque positives (good post luke). I like my motorsport and F1 is a important part of that. Like most branches of motorsport there is plenty that can be improved. However littlle compares to a JPM around the outside, a doged battle at Monaco, Blanchimont, 18000rpm+, the starts, ... |

I'm sure Bearnie and co. could put on a fantastically entertaining series if that was the main aim but unfortunatly f1's a business first, motorsport second situation. Take last years championship for example, I'm sure hes aware that Spa is one of the best racetracks around and one that produces great racing but it got canned last year anyway. Why? Because it didn't fit into his business plan. On the other hand Hungary provides as with the most boring processional racing of the year, year in year out, but does Bearnie care? Maybe, I don't know, but it brings him in the $$$$ and earns its spot on the callender that way.
Oh by the way, im am actually a f1 fan. Last edited by Shoey; 20 Oct 2004 at 05:05. |

I've said it before, I'll say it again.
On behalf of F1, sorry to loose you as a fan but dont let the door bang you on the ass on your way out. |

Formula 1 is like the lawn bowls of motorsport at the moment. After watching ITV on sundays this year you could be forgiven for feeling more relaxed after watching a race then before. Probably because you feel asleep somewhere between MS leading and well MS leading.
BTC for racing incidents, Rallycross for as much power and just as exciting starts and WRC for balls out bravery and drivers who can tell you when there car is rubbish. From Former F1 fan who thinks I'll take my chances of the door hitting me on the way out. Rather that than having to sit in the room another minute longer watching the paint dry |
