TOCA Radio

Having just seen Al on another topic I thought I'd take a moment to publicly thank him and his team for their continued efforts in bringing us TOCA Radio and keeping it as interesting and informative as it has always been. I can't imagine going back to the days of no radio now!

Even better we've had the benefit of the broadcast being available on-line once again this season. I know that this is not always easy (or cheap!) to organise but it is really well worth it for those of us who cannot make a meeting.

Top stuff Al. Ahhh haaaa!!!

To use a phase from the man himself "absolutely !"

We should also give a mention to the rest of the commentary team, especially Ian Titchmarsh and Matt Feeney, who do a fantastic job. Talking for anything up to 8 hours a day and trying to sound both knowledgable and interesting isn't the easiest thing in the world.

Indeed. That's where certain other commentators (no names, let's just say he loves the sound of his own voice) come unstuck. The TOCA team is, IMHO, the best of the bunch.

Though a little more John Hindhaugh would be nice

Aw shucks!

Thank you everyone for your amazing continued support of what we do, year in, year out! It is so very, very much appreciated, I can promise you, and makes it all so very worth while. I will pass on this URL to Titch and Matt, and also to Richard Neil, Matt James, Hindy, and Russell Douglas, as they all appeared on TOCA Radio this year. I am very lucky to be part of such a professional team.

For those of you who like a bit of a look back at the season, I'll be on Ian Collin's show on Talk Sport this weekend, 1053/1089am, talking about Oulton and the championship as a whole. I've been lucky enough to have been invited on Ian's show quite a lot this year, and hopefully will carry on doing bits and pieces during the winter as well. It's great that Ian has recognised the importance of the BTCC following his trip to Brands, and has allowed me to talk about it on a national radio station as huge as Talk, and on a show as popular as his.

Once again, thank you for your kind words and continued support!

All the best

Al

I will post as soon as I know what time our bit will be on! Thanks for asking, Craig!

Ian's show is on from 8.00pm til 1.00am Saturdays and Sundays, and 10.00pm until 1.00am on Fridays.

Pitty you were not on Ian's show on Sunday Al.

TOCA radio has been fantastic all year round despite the problems that had been going on. Well done to the crew and the Legend Al

Thanks for saying that, Sim! I was gutted that I could not get a strong enough signal on my mobile phone at Oulton to ensure that I could do piece from there on Sunday evening. I was astonished and flattered that people wrote into Ian's show to say how disappointed they were that we couldn't get the link up.

When I got back to my hotel late on Sunday night my phone went berserk with messages from Ian as he had been trying to establish contact before going on air! In the meantime I had been trying all night to get enough signal to ring him!

So the reason that I wasn’t able to do it last Sunday was because of cellular technology, and not as popular rumour would have, that I had been waylaid by "Rob's Angels" at the End Of Term Party! These rumours are to be strenuously denied as they have absolutely no foundation or truth whatsoever. Chance would be fine thing!

Hey Maisie!

You know me - big fever doesn't stop for Al till the snow comes!

I am hoping to get along to Brands this weekend at some stage for the F3 meeting (not to work but just to enjoy!), and I should be at the BRSCC organised meeting at Rockingham next weekend (Oct4/5); BARC Pembrey (25/26 Oct); and hopefully the Donington Park BARC Truck Finale (which was brilliant last year!) (Nov 9).

Cheltenham for horses in Novemeber aswell if anyone's interested?!

Rumours such as these are all good!

Tinged with vague surprise that the two scallywags didn't catch the first bus to Oulton to offer their own commendations...

Dudley has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
And thanks to Rob Collard I'd say, since I assume he's still not being paid for the adverts his cars have carried for TOCA radio these last 2 years.

Hi Dudley!

The sticker on Rob's car isn't really an advert - we don't actually have anything to sell! He carries our sticker because he wants to!

It all started when we put a sticker on his car mid 2002 season, and he had a great weekend on track, so then it became almost superstition that our stickers would bring him luck!

Rob, his partner Deborah, and the team, are good chums of mine and I'm proud to see our name on their car, incredibly proud of their achievements and successes, and proud to be their friends.

Cheers,

Al
