Alwaysfirst should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Cancun Superspeedway

Following on from Tilke's really rather rubbish attempt at a roval when he was drawing up plans for a Cancun grand prix track I've attempted to do a little better myself. Therefore we now have Cancun Superspeedway! The oval has been designed with the IRL & NASCAR in mind whilst the combined course is suitable for F1 & CCWS. The oval is D-shaped with T1 & 2 being tighter than T3 & 4. The oval is 1.75 miles long & is a fast, high-banked oval. After the start/finish line the banking is 8 degrees. T1 & 2 have 26 degree banking. The back straight has 3 degree banking whilst T3 & 4 have 20 degree banking. The straight before the start/finish line has 10 degree banking. The track is very wide, 75 feet, 25 feet wider than Indy, meaning that there are many lines trough the corners allowing a lot of side by side action! The road course leaves the oval just after T2. The first road course corner is a tight chicane. This leads onto a long straight with a kink. The next corner is steeply cambered & leads onto another straight that leads into a complex of tightening esses. These lead into a hairpin with an exit that increases in radius throughout the corner leading onto the longest road course straight. This leads into a medium speed 80 degree corner that leads into an open right-hander that has a lot of negative camber, pushing cars to the outside. Another straight leads to a parabolica corner that leads back onto the oval. There is a standing start section infront of the pits. This is only to be used for the start. The road course is also quite wide at 45 feet.

That's a pretty cool track. Not really F1-style, I reckon, but still.

Now, this one I like. The road track looks alright. But, why is everything ovals now on the My Tracks forum?

True, they'd certainly need some new tyres to race on the banking!

However, I don't see any reason why F1 should turn away from racing on tracks like this one. If the road circuit is good enough & there are facilities for a standing start then why not? The tyres will be becoming less of an issue as Bridgestone takes over sole supply & the cars would only need slight modifications to race there. Plus the fans would get great views from the huge grandstands. They could see the whole circuit, something almost completly unknown in F1. I wouldn't want to see a whole calendar of these races at all, but I cannot see why one or two couldn't be incorporated into the calendar. Of course it would never happen, in the same way as I trhink that F1 should have a couple of oval races a year as the best drivers in the world should be tested on as many different types of circuit as possible.......

It's a bit twisty, but I suppose that you need potentiel corners inside an oval.

I think that infield would be terribly fiddly, given that the oval is only 1.75 miles long. The infield can only be about 700x300 metres in size, which makes most of those corners 2nd gear and lower.

Which is why I have put long straights between corners. I feel that the camber on the 1st proper infield turn would still make it interesting, there is a good long run into the esses so at least the first one would be taken at some speed & the anti-cambered corner would still be quite challenging with the exit being quite fast. For this reason I feel that there would only be a couple of fiddly corners whilst the rest would at least be interesting, with the esses not being slow either. And saying that they would be 2nd gear or lower is a slight exageration. F1 cars take the 2 hairpins at Indy in second & I feel that most corners on my track would be slightly faster than that.
