Im guessing at around Silverstone level, so maybe 40,000 people to 50,000/60,000 on Monday.

Today was very low - we're talking about Mondello sized crowds.

Today was the first day of a three day meeting. Did you expect a sell-out?

ive been hearing its a sell out and all these numbers of 50,000+ Silverstone sized crowds and stuff...
...quick change of subject, but I hear the Touring Cars arent in the pit lane, they are with the support racers/cars, so they are in that pit next to paddock. Does these mean we will get to see the cars and meet the drivers (like at Silverstone)?

Only if you've purchased one of the rip-off paddock transfer tickets, I'm afraid

so where are the Touring Cars (trucks etc..)???? I take it the CARTS get the VIP areas (the Pit Lane) so no room for any Touring Cars...

That's correct. Cart have the inner paddock and everyone else is together in the main paddock. I know some of the mechanics (understandably) don't like working out of the awning but, personally, I think it's a much friendlier way of doing things!

it was quite fun today seeing the touring car drivers hanging around rather than disappearing off into garages.
Best bit was that no-one checked for paddock passes - not for the outer or inner paddock so went and got Andretti's autograph (and a few others).

tomorrow will be different though I reckon.

The support races weren't using the tunnel onto the track - rather they went through the ambulance gate - good idea that - nice photo oppurtunity.

Toca are claiming 58000 was busy but good, big contrast from Mondello, i think the BTCC stole the day, i allmost fell asleep during the champ cars, the most instresting thing was the engine blow in front of us .... still a top week end..

58,000 for the whole weekend, just under 40,000 for today.

I was watching CART on Eurosport and I was dozing on and off too! Managed to stay awake for the BTCC though!

The whole weekend had some superb racing - even the Porsches! Mind you, there was some pretty dodgy driving from Pinkney again. But it made it interesting I guess!

Having been involved with the team last year I missed just sitting down, chilling, and watching a load of nutters go razzing round in front of me. This weekend I finally got to do that again and spent three whole days doing nothing but watching some great racing. I was even entertained by the FFord and FRenault races so it must have been good!

The meeting had that feeling of it being an 'event' which is something that has been missing from the BTCC since 1999. Long may it continue.
