Interestingly they are not going to Shanghai but doing both F1 & WTCC in Japan, they are also doing Sepang twice. I guess Shanghai Circuit has fallen out of favour with BMW.

Also no Goldenport (Chengdu or Beijing). The Chinese circuits, except Zhuhai, don't seem to be doing much to promote mid level racing series (i.e. international series below the top tier of F1 and A1). From what I've heard before SIC in particular ask for way too much money. I don't think they yet fully understand the big picture or the necessity of having a racing ladder. If Chinese drivers can be developed via these series it will benefit them in the long run, I wonder when they will wake up to this?
The last I heard Japan was still in Asia, where is the Pacific component? Last edited by Kiwi3; 8 Jan 2008 at 04:22. |

I think they renamed it to prepare for the future. Also align the series better with the FBMW Europe and FBMW Americas. |

This just released, Formula BMW Pacific 2008 Provisional Calendar:
Round Date Circuit 1 & 2 March 21-23 Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia (F1) 3-6 April 18-20 Zhuhai International Circuit, China (AFOS) 7-10 May 16-18 Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia (AFOS) 11-14 July 18-20 Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia (AFOS) 15 & 16 Sep 26-28 Marina Bay Circuit, Singapore (F1) 17 & 18 October 10-12 Fuji Speedway, Japan (F1) They are not supporting WTCC Japan. There will be 18 rounds in total. For the AFOS events, they will do 4 rounds, for the F1 events, they will do 2 rounds. It does feel more like a South East Asian series with Japan and China thrown in... |

I was hoping they would stay at Bira, Thailand
How many drivers have been confirmed for 2008 season? And does anyone know where Jaafar is racing in 2008? |

"The 15-year-old Jazeman is now doing testing with German team Am-Holzer Rennsport at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China. He will be making his debut in the Formula BMW Euroseries, which begins in March, but is unable to test in Europe because of the winter season." I hope Jazeman did not test after 31st January at Zuhai as he would be violating the Europe F BMW Test ban which comes into effect on 1st Feb and carries very heavy penalties.
