Wideangle reccomendations?
Not that I can afford one for a while, but I'd like to get something wider than my current 28mm lens for some "arty" paddock/pit, grid shots etc.
Any recommendations (Nikon fit). |

I have a Sigma 8mm f4 which produces some very arty results, in fact some completely nutty ones..... Once bumped someone on the nose with it while looking through viewfinder. I think I paid about £400 from Microglobe

Strewth! Talk about fisheye.
I might add a decent wideangle in the not too far distant future, for now though I'll make do with 18-55mm EFS lens that came with my 20D. I used it to take some pictures of my year old Nepthew, and dispite it being a cheap n nasty lens the pics came out quite well I thought... if only I had a home studio for composition!... ah well it's hard making a 1 yr old stay still for more than 2 seconds anyway |

*aspherical = no edge distortion as you would find in a fisheye. All paralell lines remain straight. I have a Nikon 24mm ƒ1:2.8 and a Tokina 17mm ƒ1:3.5 but I am looking to sell or exchange them in part for a Sigma or Tamron 14mm ƒ1:2.8. The Nikon version is out of my price range. Send a PM for a price quote. I had a Sigma 17-35m ƒ1:2.8 zoom but sold it as it used Ø82mm filters (very expensive) and was very heavy (~ 850gr). The 24mm uses Ø52mm filters and the 17mm uses Ø77mm filters. They weigh about the same as your 28mm lens. |

Went for the Sigma 10-20mm in the end, and had some good results from it! I wasn't planning on getting one until later in the year, but my brother just left his job at Jessops, and he had one in the shop, so I snapped it up at trade price while I could! Came in very hand at the Autosport show, and produces some interesting effects.

Im thinking of buying a wideangle lens soon for my D70. After lots of reasearch Ive decided the Tokina 12-24 f4 provides the best bang for buck. Amateur Photographer magazine loved it.
