BRDC Silverstone Festival 4-5 June
I have just read that this is going to be on the Historic GP circuit - FANTASTIC!!!
not one to be missed even though its 7 month away I am already excited! Anybody got some colour to add? What races will there be? the press release said that HSCC will be co ordinating. The last Nescafe sponsored festival was great and had 2 historic tin top races, if we have that and something for 60's sportsracers I will be very content!! |

the only thing that concerne me is that I read it on racecar.co.uk but its not on the BRDC website..... I presume JEB can throw some light and after last weekend I assume that he is featuring high in the organisation (maybe the FF1600 race should be the Beckett Cup!

Peter I had a great battle with two of your CSCC 70's competitors, Marguiles and Howard.
The first race we swapped places throughout the race and in the second if it hadnt been for a very ambitious BMW 1602 with a 2 litre L Owen engine trying to outbrake the whole field into Becketts, I might had a better duel with them in that race as well. As it was I spent the whole race catching back up with them finishing the race just behind Marguiles |

Those 8clubs races were great. Simon, my brother was spannering on the black Caterham Superlight of Malcolm Cook in those races. He qualified 6th but had to pull off at Copse in race one due to a sticking throttle and had the same problem in race two, losing it at Luffield.

they were a real laugh - I didnt know what to expect as I was running on Dunlop M and most cars were on either Yoki's or slicks! However I finished both races 17/30 (first in historics on M's) which is about what I expected to do so wasnt too unhappy in what is really only my third time in the car! Roll on next season!

Hope this happens as I've just looked at the HSCC provisional calender and there is a 2 month gap from May to July and no mention of Silverstone until October!! I suppose everyone is waiting for the ongoing saga of the Grand Prix to be sorted out. I hope they resolve this soon as it's getting a bit tedious and seems to hold the club calender up every year!!
Fingers crossed for the 5-6th of June event. Last edited by Finn; 16 Nov 2004 at 16:06. |

The June meeting is a BRDC event NOT HSCC so the competitors should have better value for money and more tracktime.
Hopefully the will be an "International" Classic F3 race for 1970's F3 cars with the cars from the French and German series talking part as well as the regular 20+ cars from the British series. |

well its a bit of both really as its a BRDC event which they have asked HSCC to organise. Personally I think that is a win win situation as HSCC put on top meetings and if teh BRDC has in some way ensured its viability and allowed Historic GP circuit then we are all very fortunate (especially as the HSCC Brands Super Prix will presumably be a couple weeks later (havent seen their 05 calander)

interesting calender for the HSCC, I think Top Hat is penciled in for this weekend at Silverstone, with the HSCC going to a few of the traditional CSCC circuits . . . . .

What exactly is the "Historic Grand Prix Circuit"??? In my eyes that would be one that didn't have all that twiddly stuff at Luffields etc. and juts had a great long blast straight down from Abbey to a chicaneless Woodcote...which of course isnt possible anymore

It's the full GP circuit but without the Abbey chicane (opp lock flat-out blast thro' Abbey instead) and slightly less twiddley at the bottom end of the circuit.
Excellent. But it still has all the annoying twiddles at the Complex. |

Ahhhh they did the same last year...BRDC meeting F3 & Tuscans etc used Abbey Chicane but the BRDC Sportscars blasted straight through

It's because the older cars don't have the brakes for the revised circuit. That said the blast through Bridge is even better than the blast through old Woodcote.

I know the HSCC are the organisers but does anyone know if they are running any of their classes (I was thinking of 70s roadsports) at the event?
Sounds like a great day out though! |
