Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia 2019
Looks like there going to be another solid season in GT Asia, hopefully they can make a few improvements on the show too.
Calendar is fairly similar to last year with the loss of the two lesser known Chinese circuits, and the addition of Yeongam in South Korea, the former formula one circuit. The old GT Asia Series used to run there and it made for good racing. Sepang International Circuit - April 6-7 Buriram Chang International Circuit - May 11-12 Suzuka International Circuit - June 22-23 Fuji Speedway - July 6-7 Korea International Circuit - August 3-4 Shanghai International Circuit - September 27-28 Decent entry building slowly, a whopping 4 cars from Absolute spread across two Audis and two Porsches with factory drivers expected from both MFG's. Craft Bamboo making the big switch from Porsche to AMG, which leaves a question mark over the GruppeM entry. Phoenix Asia bringing those new gen Bentleys, so we are looking at a slightly more mixed line up in 2019. Entry List so far: GT3 Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - Franky Cheng Congfu / Sun Jingzu Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - TBA / TBA Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuan Bo / Porsche Factory Driver Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - TBA / TBA AMAC Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - William Porter / Andrew Macpherson ARN Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuta Kamimura / Hiroaki Nagai Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA (possible) Phoenix Racing Asia - Bentley Continental GT3 - TBA / TBA Phoenix Racing Asia - Bentley Continental GT3 - TBA / TBA Vincenzo Sospiri Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - TBA / TBA GT4 BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - Sunako Jukuchou / Takayuki Kinoshita BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT4 - TBA / TBA GTO Racing with TTR - Mercedes AMG GT4 - Tony Fong / Brian Lee |

The loss of Ningbo International Circuit is really sad. That's one of the most unique modern circuits I've ever seen.

Triple Eight Race Engineering join with a pretty stellar lineup.
Otherwise still looking like a slightly thin grid for 2019. Still time, and still some undeclared. Wondering if the collapsed Bentley programme will be picked up by someone else GT3 - 15-16 Cars Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - Franky Cheng Congfu / Sun Jingzu Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - TBA / TBA Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuan Bo / Porsche Factory Driver Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - TBA / TBA ABSSA Motorsport- Mclaren 720s GT3 - Keita Sawa / Tadao Uematsu AMAC Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - William Porter / Andrew Macpherson Arrows Racing - Honda NSX GT3 Evo - Philip Ma / Alex Liu ARN Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuta Kamimura / Hiroaki Nagai Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Alessio Picariello / Jeffrey Lee Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA (possible) HubAuto Corsa - Ferrari 488 GT3 - Yuya Sakamoto / David Russell JR-M - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Li Chao / Chris van der Drift Triple Eight Race Engineering - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Jefri Ibrahim / (Shane Van Gisbergen / Jazeman Jaafar) T2 Motorsports - Ferrari 488 GT3 - Rio Haryanto / [Gergory Teo / David Tjiptobiantoro] Vincenzo Sospiri Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - Alex Au / Frederik Schandorff GT4 - 4 Cars BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - Sunako Jukuchou / Takayuki Kinoshita BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT4 - TBA / TBA GTO Racing with TTR - Mercedes AMG GT4 - Tony Fong / Brian Lee GruppeM?? Things starting to shape up with Craft Bamboo line ups confirmed, and a few more GT3s announced.
So it sounds like KCMG and GruppeM are pretty much confirmed loses for the series, which only really leaves OD Racing unannounced for the season. With that in mind, 20 GT3's is a good number. Add in the 6 GT4 backmarkers for a bit of occasional traffic to contend with then I think theres a decent entry here I still dont get quite why GT4 struggles so much in Asia GT3 - 20-21 Cars Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - Franky Cheng Congfu / Sun Jingzu Absolute Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - TBA / TBA Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuan Bo / Porsche Factory Driver Absolute Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - TBA / TBA ABSSA Motorsport- Mclaren 720s GT3 - Keita Sawa / Tadao Uematsu AMAC Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - William Porter / Andrew Macpherson Anstone Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Xu Wei / Naoki Yokomizo Arrows Racing - Honda NSX GT3 Evo - Philip Ma / Alex Liu ARN Racing - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Yuta Kamimura / Hiroaki Nagai Audi Sport Team TSRT - Audi R8 LMS GT3 - David Chen / Andre Couto B-Quik Racing - Audi R8 LMS GT3 - Daniel Bilski / Henk Kiks (opening two rounds only) Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Alessio Picariello / Jeffrey Lee Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Christina Nielsen / Darrel O’Young HubAuto Corsa - Ferrari 488 GT3 - Yuya Sakamoto / David Russell JR-M - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Li Chao / Chris van der Drift Modena Motorsports - Porsche 911 GT3 R - John Shen / Mathias Beche Modena Motorsports - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Francis Tjia / TBA Panther / AAS Motorsport - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak / Alexandre Imperatori Triple Eight Race Engineering - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Jefri Ibrahim / (Shane Van Gisbergen / Jazeman Jaafar) T2 Motorsports - Ferrari 488 GT3 - Rio Haryanto / [Gergory Teo / David Tjiptobiantoro] Vincenzo Sospiri Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo - Alex Au / Frederik Schandorff GT4 - 6 Cars BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - Sunako Jukuchou / Takayuki Kinoshita BMW Team Studie - BMW M4 GT4 - TBA / TBA Craft-Bamboo Racing - Mercedes AMG GT4 - TBA / TBA GTO Racing with TTR - Mercedes AMG GT4 - Tony Fong / Brian Lee Team iRace Win - Mercedes AMG GT4 - Ringo Chong / Setiawan Santoso Team iRace Win - Mercedes AMG GT4 - Naomi Zhang / Alan Yeo |

Entry List is live- 30 car grid.
Essentially the same as what had been announced in terms of entries previously, although Hub Auto Corse add a second car, Craft Bamboo bring a 3rd GT3, Open Road Racing and Indigo Racing bring a single previously unannounced Porsche and Mercedes GT3 respectively. Only change in GT4 is one less car from Team Studie. http://vmail.vertouk.com/userfiles/s...Commercial.pdf |
