Ten-Tenths Racing League: SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

Plans are already underway for the next Ten-Tenths Racing League championship, which will begin in the near future, possibly as soon as the F1 '97 league finishes.

I am asking you for your suggestions as to:

a) what game/s to use;
b) what kind of races you'd like to see;

and

c) what new rules you'd like to see implemented.

All suggestions are welcome.

Cheers.

Mf - Just Call Me Bernie

GT3 definitely, as long as we're allowed to use cars we've bought/won. I'd like to see anyone beat a time set by my 1880BHP Escudo!

Well....I only own a PC so I had to vote for GP3. My only suggestion regarding that game would be that everyone should have the same car set's (preferably the original). Grand prix Legends could also be an interesting choice.

I voted F1 2000 because I don't own a PS2 yet... but it could be Gran Turismo too.

David, if we use GT3 then the cars will have to be unmodified to ensure fairness.

In a similar manner, if GP3 is used then it will be an unmodified version of the original game.

Another F1 '97 league could be on the cards too, but with revised rules due to certain discrepancies etc... I have noticed cropping up.

All will be decided soon! Keep those ideas coming people!!!

I voted Grand Prix 3 because I'm sooo good at that one.
And I don't mind about the rules because whatever they are, you won't have a chance.

Ouch. That could really hurt the game's performance. You should try to get a 3D card. Every game nowadays needs one and you can get a fairly decent card for less than a 100 bucks and it makes a total difference.

It'd have to be GT3 for me, happy to do it with standard cars. Something like 5 or 10 lap time attacks, so traffic doesn't play a part?

Well. I think that you could get a GeforceMX or a Radeon SDR for a fairly good price and they should work just fine. I for instance have a Diamond Monster Fusion (Voodoo banshee) which is supposed to be a very outdated card but I still manage to run every game at full detail, high res and still get perfect framerates.

I was wondering about this when I saw the front page of the Racing League website.

Given that I don't own a PS2 and my PC is too slow to run anything properly it doesn't leave me with many options.

GT and CM2 would both be good.

However I seem to remember that on CM2 you can only do the Rally of Finland until you unlock further races. As my memory card seems to have lost most of my saves I would probably need to use an "unlock cheat".

I havent played GT for ages (although I did get 100.9% on GT2!) but that would be fun to play in a league (depending on how its going to be run).

TOCA 2 is a possibility. Besides the games themselves I'd also like suggestions on what sort of races/challenges you'd like, and what rules to implement.

It is most likely that two leagues will run at the same time to allow different players of different games to join in.

I don't think any of the GT games would work well, how can you be sure if someone hasn't improved their cars or not. I reckon it should be for either Colin McRae 2, using cheats so everyone can have every track and car, TOCA 2, use single races, 10 lap races and 2 x each meeting so its just like the real thing. I don't think enough people have a PS2 or GP3. GP2 would be good, maybe with the 2000 track pack and 2001 cars from a specialised download place.

Maybe another F1 97 championship would be good.

I'd vote for F1 97, CMR 2, TOCA 2 or GP2

I voted for Gt3, but if not enough people have it, then how about GT2?

How will it work? how do we prove our lap times?

GP2 would certainly have advantages over a lot of games.

- you don't need lots of processing power to play so it would be available to most people.

- with all the car sets and tracks available we could run pretty much whatever cars we liked on whatever circuits we wanted rather than sticking to "real life" restrictions.

The most likely new championship will be chosen from Colin McRae Rally 2, Toca 2 or GT3.

However, if enough people own the original GT that could be used.

I have all 3 GTs, CMR2, Le Mans (PS1 and 2 versions) F1 97 99 and 01, Toca 2 and WTC, and Grand Prix 3 from those mentioned above, but should be able to pick up GP2
