Yup, I know a lot of clubman racers (including myself) who play TOCA for the same reason.

Jacques learned the tracks with Grand Prix 2 in his rookie year.
But that was on a PC not a playstation. |

I do alot of snowboarding and one of the things the pros recommend when it comes to improving is to watch plenty of videos and learn how you should look going down the hill. His theory is a good idea, but I doubt that the circuits will be as accurate. I've played bathurst heaps of times and you never really get a feel of how steep it is until you actually drive it for yourself.

That is true, but I find Toca helpful even though it is very different to racing. At the very least it means you know the order of the corners before you go out onthe track. Which is very important when your first practice session is only 15 minutes.

It means you should throw away the PS2 version and get yourself the PC version of F1C 99-02.

I notice Kimi said (Autosport a couple of weeks ago?) that he prefers to do his learning at the track.

God help Klein then in that case, the game rendering on all PS2 F1 games is appalling, the tracks are all "wrong".
The only game I have played with nearly faultless track layout/precision is Grand Prix 4 on the PC. Grand Prix 2 and 3 were good but GP4 is better. Last edited by Sodemo; 29 Feb 2004 at 09:34. |

Yes i agree. PS2's F1 2003 (by Sony?)game is pretty bad. The controls feel is wrong, the circuit is wrong, everything is wrong. And MS ALWAYS win.... so much for realism (the worse he did was 2nd - after i reversed the whole grid Minardi first Ferrari last in spectator view at Japan)
So far, GP4 is the best. The driving is entertaining and fun, though the circuits are not very accurate, but racing is at least nice. Pity its no more.. |
