Murcielago GTS

Does anyone have any news about the Prodrive-Lamborghini GTS project? Hows progress (if any)?
Last time I heard they managed to get Frederic Dor to sponsor the thing but that was a while ago.

A Murciablahggghhr........ GTS, wow. That would be something.

But, it can't be going that far, because Prodrive have the 550 Marenello, they probably don't need another Italian car.

And, how successful would it be anyway? If the Diablo is anything to go by, not that well. Then again, Murcielago is not a Diablo.

I have to say, when they tuned the aero on it, the looks would be fairly well ruined, so on the face of it, I'd rather it remained a road car

FIA GT regulations, art. 9.1.1:
Four wheel drive is forbidden.

Lambo will have to build 25 2wd Murcielagos first.

SFonseca - That's strange because according to Auto Motor und Sport (or was it Sport Auto? -it's the same publisher anyway...) the deal was done and they were ready to start.

Cybersdorf - That thought has struck me too. I remember something vaguely about a way to go around that 25 cars a year rule, I get back to you as soon as I find it.

At Prodrive: Only discussions, no contracts with Lamborghini.

Cripes, I'd think Prodrive has enough to do already with the Ferrari 550, Subaru WRC, and the Honda F1 team.

I don't think this is possible anymore; what with the FIA getting serious about homologation issues (Saleen!).

prodrive deal has fell through, but there still maybe a murcielago in the FIA GT next year...mark my words...depends on the decisions made by certain members at audi...(not saying too much)

Do you really want to have a car in FIA-GT which is based on a 1800kg limousine?
Let's wait for the smaller (and hopefully lighter) Lamborghini.

well, the reliabilty factor plays a bit part...plus most body parts can easily be rebuilt and revamped with carbon fibre...

plus it has a gud engine and gearbox - far better than the diablo...last year pretty much most of our retirements were due to transmission failures or driveshaft etc...

Ok, no problem. Tell me If I am wrong... Is Reiter considering a Murcielago entry, isn't it?
