BRC / Irish Tarmac Deciders
Hope yee all might get some use out of this ?
1 Mark Higgins Brian Thomas Ford Focus 2 Jonny Milner Nicky Beech Subaru Impreza 3 David Higgins Daniel Barritt Hyundai Accent WRC 4 Austin MacHale Brian Murphy Ford Focus WRC 03 5 Barry Johnson Stewart Merry Subaru Impreza WRC 6 Matthew Wilson Scott Martin Ford Focus O Dovenby K 7 Steve Perez Clare Mole Ford Focus WRC 03 8 Steve Petch John Richardson Hyundai Accent WRC 9 Ryan Champion Cliff Simmons Mitsubishi Lancer E6 10 Seb Ling James Phillips Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8 Currently, David Higgins is hanging on to first place with 89 points, but that could all change this weekend. Austin McHale and Matthew Wilson are breathing down his neck on 88 and 87 points, respectively. Top 10 for the decider in Cork this weekend 1 Eamonn Boland/Francis Reagan (Subaru WRC S9) [A8] 2 Eugene Donnelly/Paul Kiely (Toyota Corolla WRC) [A8] 3 Derek McGarrity/Dermot O'Gorman (Subaru Impreza) [A8] 4 Donie O'Sullivan/Paul Nagle (Ford Focus WRC) [A8] 5 Tim McNulty/Eugene O'Donnell (Subaru S7) [A8] 6 Liam McCarthy/Kieran Murphy (Toyota Corolla WRC) [A8] 7 Maurice Gass/Andrew Cullen (Subaru Impreza) [A8] 8 Denis Cronin/Helen Sullivan (Toyota Celica 185) [A8] 9 Ollie O'Donovan/David Moynihan (Subaru WRC S8) [A8] 10 Tony Davies/Alun Cook (Subaru Impreza) [A8] Derek McGarrity 75 Eugene Donnelly 75 Austin MacHale 68 Dessie Keenan 33 Good to see the two Championchips come down to the last events. So anyone for predictions ? I'm Going for Mark Higgins to win the rally but David to win Championchip, don't think Mc Cale has enough speed on the loose to trouble either. If it rains down in cork (and it usually does) Eugene Donnelly should come out on top. It will some achivement in 6 Year old car. Watching some off his in car this year his commitment is mind boggling. |

I'm also heading out on the Trackrod tomorrow and I am quite looking forward to it. It was a good event last year.

Cork 20
Unofficial Leaderboard After Stage 14 1st (3) Derek McGarrity/Dermot O’Gorman (Impreza WRC) 2.06.30 2nd (5) Tim McNulty/Eugene O’Donnell (Subaru WRC) 2.10.47 3rd (6) Liam McCarthy/Kieran Murphy (Impreza WRC) 2.10.52 4th (8) Denis Cronin/Helen Sullivan (Celica) 2.12.27 5th (10) Tony Davies/Jakes Kelly (Impreza WRC) 2.12.50 6th (1) Eamonn Boland/Francis Regan (Impreza WRC) 2.13.22 7th (17) Willie Fannin/Mick Courtney (Impreza N) 2.14.52 8th (21) James O’Sullivan/Brian Duggan ( Lancer N) 2.14.56 9th (24) Paddy White/Aidan Moran (Impreza WRC) 2.16.38 10th (31) Tadag Linehan/Tony Linehan (Impreza N) 2.20.13 In a dramatic final stage development Derek McGarrity has won this years Cork 20 International Rally and secured the 2004 Pirelli Tarmac Championship. Eugene Donnelly had held a nine second lead going into the final stage but in an almost unprecedented event, the rally leader who was running second on the road, encountered rocks, nails and a piece of timber with pop rivets lying in the road. Donnelly had no chance and crashed the Kingspan Corolla out of the rally lead. Both Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely are uninjured but they remain at the scene of the accident while an investigation is initiated What a terrible way for the championchip to be decided. |

Just seen this on rallynews
In an unprecedented move by the rally Stewards, a revision of the results has been considered. As a result of the incident involving car number 2 (Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely) on the final stage (SS14) on today's rally, the Stewards of the Meeting have decided that in the interests of the sport, the results have been declared final at the end of stage 13. Following a further meeting that was attended by both Eugene Donnelly and Derek McGarrity, both crews have at their own suggestion proposed and agreed that they will share the title of 2004 Pirelli Tarmac Championship. The championship managers have in principle agreed to this generous gesture by both competitors. |

What happened to David Higgins on the Trackrod?
I have to admit i'm an Austin McHale fan. As a very young kid i remember getting BRC rounds shown on Australia's Wide World of Sport, throwing his Opel Manta 400 around the Isle of Man or through the stages on the Ulster or Circuit of Ireland Rallies. Great to see him still competing. How long did he rally the Group A Opel Monza for? |

Link to cork 20 full story
Worth a read. As a competitor it is a very I feel shocked that someone could do this. It is a sinister and worrying development. Lets hope someone is caught and brought to justice. Have been told that there is at least 70 grands worth of damage done to Eugenes car. |

I can say with reasonable certainty that the Monza was used for two events in 1987 - the Manx Rally and the Circuit of Ireland Rally In the Manx he retired on stage 4 or 5 (either head gasket or ECU failure) But in the COI it managed to get all the way round (minus a few parts for some of the stages) |
