Core 'men of passion' help CART regain traction
06/20/03
JERRY F. BOONE Jim McGee sat in the paddock at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells of Champ Car racing. Under the nearby Visteon/Patrick Racing tent, a turbocharged Ford Cosworth V-8 grumbled to life, the engine settling down to a nearly deafening roar. For McGee and others faithful to CART, the engine rumble is a rallying cry. http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/ore...0872297610.xml |

Would Ashley Judd's current husband be welcomed back to C^RT, uh AGPS, ummm Formula North america, ugh Formula Western Hemisphere or whatever it's called? Has he trashed CART like others that are, thankfully, gone?

It should be Formula Turbo and leave everyone chomping at the bit waiting and expecting battles on track like the old TurboF1

I would welcome Dario back. He has not slagged off CART that I have heard. He had to make a business decision and was persuaded that CART was not going to exist this year. I really don't blame him and I wonder why he has not resumed his seat. He was expected to return after the Indy 500 and has yet to even test for the team. Has he had enough of the IRL already?
BTW, I urge all to send a quick email to Jerry Boone, author of the article, thanking him for taking a positive stance on CART rather than the ever popular negative stance. His article could have easily been a anti-CART rant and focussed merely on the monetary problems the series faces, instead he wrote a piece about some of the unsung heroes in the series. |

He's about to undergo back surgery to repair damage from his motorcycle accident. (Robin Miller speculates that Bryan Herta will replace him).
I'm undecided as to whether or not I'd wholeheartedly welcome Dario back. He's certainly a talented driver, and he didn't slam CART too much, but remember that he did slam the Simple Green safety crew pretty badly toward the end of last year. Something that I found to be really ignorant. |
