How many F1 teams have pledged to carry on in '04 with their 2003 chassis?
Didn't Jag say early on that they would? Is Sauber carrying over? How about Minardi?

Minardi are building a carbon (sic!) copy of the A23 Arrows and calling it a PS04...
Will McLaren carry over the MP4-18... oops that doesnt exist |

Minardi will probably use the 02 Arrows chassis next year. McLaren to use the MP4-17D for another year??

I think that Minardi, Jordan and to a certain extent Sauber need to be more or less back to the drawing board. Jordan particularly need a massive step up in performance.
Toyota will probably evolve the car and wait for some input from Gascoyne with any development parts. Jaguar and BAR seem to have a decent basis to work from for an evolution rather than a completely new car. At the front of the grid it gets a bit tricky, it's fair to say that insufficent development on their new car this year, 'cost' William's a lot in early season performance, so I'm sure they won't want to repeat that, and will produce an evolved car. The recent trend has been to contest the early 'flyaway' races with a development of last years car, concentrating on either a new, or further developed car, when back in Europe with close proximity to base. Of the top 3 McLaren is the only one whose car is totally at then end of it's development and they will have to start 2004 with a brand new car, which could make or break the season if it is as tight as this years. |

If Sauber did effectively have an F2003ga wouldn't that contravene the latest ruling saying you couldn't buy/use other team's old chassis?
Expect Ron Dennis to be keeping a close eye on Sauber's appearance & performance with the protest form's filled out just waiting to be dated Last edited by PaulSands; 22 Oct 2003 at 13:30. |

We can be quite sure about Ferrari; regarding others, well, it's harder to imagine; only Renault showed such a good chassis that could be successfully run in early 2004.
Williams has never had such a habit; Macs would be 2 years older, seems too much to me. Other teams need to significantly improve. |

Sauber and Ferrari will be running the same engine next year because of the new long life engine rules, don't know how many other components they'll be getting their hands on though!

Also Renault are changing their V angle so I'm sure the chassis will have to change to cope with that!

That sould be a problem of bodywork (engine cover, air inlets) and engine installation (exhaust, cooling), rather than chassis itself, i guess...

Renault may need a new chassis if they're going to use a more standard 90 V angle engine which'll give a different centre of gravity, etc.

JORDOn buying MERC power and an MP 4/18 chassis rumours have died down..
Sauber will not get the f-2003 GA, they'll just get FERRAR's engine & gearbox , rear suspension, engine cover, sidepods and nosecones and call it the SAUBER 2004 or whatever! |

BAR and Ferrari are confirmed as using 2003 chassis at the start of next year, although they'll probably be modified beyond similarity, ie MP4 17D.
