Andy Priaulx

so Andy priaulx is coming to Australia to test for the Stone brothers in the Pirtek falcon.
we seem to be getting a flood of them of late John cleland,Matt Neal and now Andy Priaulx..but how do you think he will go?

be the reading in Auto Action today he seems to be rated very highly in England and has been very good in F3 and made a sensational debut in the BTCC and has plenty of experience in high powered cars so on paper he should do OK.

good luck to him and I hope he can keep the thing straight and off the walls and maybe come out here for Bathurst next year ..which I think is his aim.

He certainly did star in his BTCC debut, scoring pole for his first race with the team, beating the factory Astra's of Muller and Plato and also the Egg Sport Astra of teammate James Thompson, lets see if he is as impressive in a V8. Interesting that his manager is Mike O'Brian, who won a round of the 1987 BTCC in an ex-Allan Grice VK Holden Commodore, run by Alan Docking Racing.

Still quite impressive for someone who was unfamiliar with the category, the team and the car. Is he considering tin-tops as a career move or just keeping his options open? (Or having a good time!)

The 60kg difference in weight was worth about 0.5sec a lap. He was 0.4 sec quicker in qualifying. Considering he'd never driven the car until the first free practice session that morning I'd say that was pretty impressive.

69- Would that be the car which they took over to Europe for the WTC, and they built a new car for '86 1000?

Will be interesting to see how he goes, but of a mystery why he would be testing at SBR with not too many prospects of a permanent seat for next year.

Crash - Yep its the car Grice raced in Europe in 86, and it stayed there, and Alan Docking ran it in the 87 BTCC.

I wonder the point of why he is coming over. If everything is getting paid for, then why not, but there is no seat at the team, and as he is racing British F3, i suppose he wants F1, unless he wants an enduro drive with the team.

I was going to say that the article mentioned the possibility of an endurance drive, but that wouldn't happen for more than 12 months...and anything can happen in that time..
