Cleavland Ohio Here I Come
Since I was planning on trying to attend this race and I will be getting in free thanks to the F1 Farce exeperience i had to go through at Indy I will be going to see Champ Car for the first time live since they raced here in Detroit in Bell Ile so I'm really excitied but sadly it will be 2 days before my 21st birthday so being able to buy beer at the race track for me will not be possible lol, but im going to think of it as an early birthday gift.
Anyway I just wanted to see how many of you guys from this board are thinking of attending the race and how you rate the race course since it will be my first time I have no idea what its like. I've only seen the race on tv a couple of times and they were like in the late 80's early 90's. |

You will have fun in Cleveland. You may need to upgrade to a grandstand seat as I'm not sure what exactly your F1 ticket gives you.
We had to pick a June race this year and picked the USGP (what a mistake). We can't get the time from work to go to Cleveland. The course often produces a good race with passing opportunities. The support races are often even better so see those if you get a chance. You can see the whole track from the grandstands which makes the race even better. |

You're gonna have a great time, Xpunk! And don't give up on beer just yet - the least you could do is try! If one vendor cards you, go to another one!
I have a feeling that your USGP ticket may only get you General Admission to Cleveland. Mosport67 is likely correct, in that you may want to upgrade to a grandstand. If you can afford it, pick up a paddock pass as well! That will really add alot to your experience. The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame is right beside the track, too. Might be something else worth considering. |

Hey... I may be wrong about "General Admission", as this is from the CC website:

Enjoy the race, but don't forget that OWRS have only done this so as to spite Tony George for something which isn't his fault.

I don't agree with that assessment, N I Tram.
Not everything has to be political. |

I'll be there with my dad and my cousin with the tickets we bought, and thanks to the USGP tickets we will be introducing four of my cousin's friends to Champ Car!
This is being seen as a blow to Tony George, but look at the positive side for Champ Car. This allows CC to attract new fans that obviously already like road racing, and maybe the people who come will stop being mad about not getting a refund and be happy they had the chance to use those tickets at a real race. |

If you go on Saturday be sure and get a pit & paddock ticket (you may even be able to get one from a scalper outside). Even early Sunday for the warm up. Standing at the pit wall for one of those sessions is great.
As I said earlier I think grandstand seats are a must for this race. We are kicking ourselves that we can't get there this year. |

My thoughts exactly. Mosport: I gave up on "pit passes" years ago. I found them too expensive, and I reaped more enjoyment simply from a "paddock pass" anyway. Usually the teams are too busy to greet the fans when they're on pitlane. Also, it sounds as if the USGP tickets may be good for grandstand seating. |

Cleveland is always a great experience. This year I think there are 7 races plus drifting, qualifying and practice. Basically, there will be action on the track at all times! Try and get as high as you can in the stands as you can see the whole track while overlooking Lake Erie. You may want to bring binoculars to see the backstraight and final corners, otherwise the cars look really small from the main grandstands.

MacDaddy
I don't recall the cost but as someone who likes to take pictures I have found the Friday and Saturday pit passes great for close-up shots. We have managed to get very close to the action on those days. I also see that the USGP tickets do get a grandstand seat. http://www.champcarworldseries.com/N...le.asp?ID=9180 |

I really hope everyone enjoys their weekend at Cleveland, it's always a good race as long as enough cars get through turn 1. This really is a time to put cynicism aside and just be glad that some good is coming out of an unfortuante situation.

Hey I had Up High at North Vista Grand Stands at USGP for 75 dollars so does that mean ill get up high for Champ Car for a seat that would be about the same price? Its cool that ill get to sit down i thought i was going their for a General Admission Seat.
Also I live in Detroit Michigan and I'm leaving the day of the race, What time should I leave so i make more then just the champ car race. I cant leave Saterday cause of work so im doing it all in one trip. |

Simple...
Leave early. What you got? A 3-to-4 hour drive? Just to get to Cleveland? How much longer to get to the airport itself? And into the parking lot? Through the gate and to your seat? Leave early. |
