Oulton GT/F3, thanks to......
So, as some may be aware, my eldest daughter Ashley (7yrs), kept awake and upset by the language \ shouting of the plankton camping behind us, suffered a somewhat major asthma attack, and somewhere around midnight could barely breathe, no matter how much ventolin or calming we tried......
This is a big to those that pulled together from this point! Hopefully a fair percentage are on here \ read this! 1) The security guard, having just finished his shift on the gate, for taking my missus and daughter over to the medical centre \ organising someone to see her. 2) The doctor, who looked at my daughter, sorted a nebuliser and calmed her, until the ambulance arrived on site to step in.... 3) The security guard again, having met the ambulance at the gate and brought them straight to the medical centre, for following sandra (my infinitely better half) back to the campsite, telling the creatures to cut it \ quiet down or be turfed out, and then giving her a lift back to the medical centre. 4) The ambulance staff for taking them over to Chester hospital, where she spent the night on nebulisers and more steroids, plus antibiotics for an infection on her chest. The nurses here were wonderful also, even giving her an easter egg to bring back the smiles. 5) My mum, meanwhile back at the circuit as I had little sleep, I had to tell her to go and sign on without me, who when arrived at at sign on was quickly spotted by.... 6) Margaret, Nadine, Ian, and probably others! Not sure who first, but all ensured a message got to her, and then me, that Sandra's mobile had gone flat and, as I have recently changed my moby number, to give them a call on the hospital ward. Also, their concern that Ashley, my eldest, was ok and passed on their warm regards. This was very much appreciated! 7) All those on Lodge, who I let down on Monday by not being there!! Really sorry guys, but I would have been a liability! I watched the first couple of sessions feeling like I was *so* detached, both in frustration at not being trackside and just spaced out due to lack of sleep. I got a call around 11am that she could be released so set off *just* as everyone was trying to get into the circuit.... 8) ...which brings thanks back to OP staff, that realised quickly I needed to get out and diverted traffic \ waved me through to get out quickly. I managed to find the countess of Chester hospital, collect my loved ones and return to the circuit, where my dad kept a close eye as Sandra and I packed up the tent and made our way home, where despite plans of catching up on GP, we slept. Ashley, likewise, laid out on sofa with a blanket and slept out the rest of the day. It was not the best end to what had been a fantastic weekend, both on and off post, but the way everyone around pulled together and showed concern was heart-warming and really showed what a great team of people we have around us at the circuit. So, thankyou, and I hope sometime I can do something equally as worthwhile for you also! |

A nice end to an unpleasant story.
It's tales like this that (after so many recent negative comments on this forum) make us proud to wear the Orange (or Black) and feel priviledged to be associated with venues such as Oulton. p.s. give Ashley a kiss and big hug from us both. Stu and Jo. |

Well done to all involved,
especially the security guard (a group who do take a lot of stick) Very pleased to hear young Ashley is OK. Hope the noisy b'stards are proud of themselves. |

Glad to hear she's OK, not glad to hear that despite best efforts of a lot of people we still have that kind of situation where marshal's can't get a decent night's sleep thanks to a few thoughtless people. I know the BTCC event last year had camping for us opposite the pits, but i'm not sure the ground is up to it and there really isn't anywhere else to go without being a million miles away from toilets / showers etc. You'll find that, no matter what happens tho, everyone involved in the motorsport world will help each other out. From pulling together to help someone thats sick, to drivers loaning some duck tape to facilitate a quick repair to my car It's why we keep coming back, weekend after weekend... ...oh, and apparently also something to do with cars going round in circles too |
