Curl. Curling season starts 2 weeks after the end of race season, and finishes 3 weeks before the start in the spring. Perfect!!And you get to practice sweeping all winter.....
I must say though, that the suggestion from the Curling marshals that we lay out rings in the gravel trap at the end of the main straight, and play LMP curling at Mosport did not go down too well.... |

OFF Season, I say Off season, what is that? 11 Dec, Rolltec stages Malton. 27,28 Dec, Howard Memorial rally Preston, 21 Jan, Mull Gravel Stages, and thats without looking at the Calender.
What do Most marshals say they want? Good sport, recognition+appreciation, well, I can add visiting some of the most beautifull countryside this Island has to offer, plus you get to drive some of the best roads getting there. Yes Circuit/Speed marshalling is great, but there is a lot more out there. Off season, honestly! |

Drink beer, do overtime in order to get money to go marshalling, drink more beer, watch all the motorsport videos that i've taped and not had enough time to watch because i've been marshalling, drink some more beer, plan how i'm going to assist the flying muppet for Oulton Parks training day, drink a few more beers, Spend a bit of time with the family and if i've got any more spare time (Yes, you've guessed it) drink a beer or two!!!!!

This year (the only "off-season" I've had so far) I've been helping my sister prepare the kitchen for the arrival of the new units just before Christmas.
Said kitchen was gutted in September (including the kitchen sink). Work has mainly been carried out on the last few weekends. Including: finishing cleaning off old kitchen tiles, removing old grout, regrouting, re-cleaning (to remove traces of new grout from surface), cleaning again,... and again, sealing old tiles ... twice (Oh my knees), sealing walls in new utility room, undercoating woodwork, can't think of anything else. Still to do, paint woodwork, paint walls in utility room, twice (?), electrician and plasterer to visit, sand any rough bits on walls, seal new plaster in kitchen, paint kitchen walls, anything else? I'm sure it will all be finished in time... PJ |

What off season? Anglessey last week, rally @ Rockingham this weekend, annual visit to parents in Sussex, next weekend, Mallory Park on Boxing Day,
4 days @ the NEC on the 750 MC stand, 3 days @ the Historic Show @ Stoneleigh, several Training Days & then we're back racing again, hooray. |

None of my usual off-season activities this year. I took off the latter part of the season to move my dad into a nursing home and my brothers and I are now trying to settle our mum in a nearby flat (after 17 years in Arizona). The nursing care, paperwork and legal issues have kept us hopping. Now, if we can only teach her how to dress for winter again - it appears she's forgotten.
