DALY should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2007 Edwina Overend Trophy Race FF1600

The Morgan Sports Car Club have invited the running of the Edwina Overend Memorial Trophy Race for FF1600 on Sunday August 19th at Mallory Park.

The race is open to all FF1600 specification cars running to the correct FF1600 regulations. The entry fee is approximately £160, there will be some sponsorship for the race which will be split between start money for all starters and some prize money for the winners. Entry forms and details of sponsors available soon. PUT A NOTE IN YOUR DIARIES!

On the same day the chance for a second race, with CSCC and the Formula Free series. (FF1600 are invited to enter.)
Same race entry fee, with a discount for two races of £15. You will have two qualifying sessions and two races. My maths tells me that two qualifying and two races at £305 less the start money from the Edwina Race.

In previous years we have had an excellent family days with lots of quality racing and some great Morgan displays. The event always attracts spectators.

This is obviously 'brilliant' planning with Oulton the day before on the 18th August !.........

I think that Castle Combe is they day before as well. However i'd be tempted to go to Mallory.

Nope, Combe isn't the same weekend.

To be fair, there has been a 'clash' with NW in previous years, but with the Edwina always running at the MSCC event there isn't a lot of choice...

Shoestring......

your wrong...there was no planning.

The date is taken from the Morgan Sports Car Club meeting. It has been a very successful race for the last three years and is held with the support of the Overend family. They provide a prestigious trophy and a great prize fund.

On another note, I look forward to taking part in the next race that you organise. I assure you my entry will be there.

.................what date is the race you are organising.........?

By the way, it would be ideal if you disclosed your name. Many thanks

Peter Daly

2007 Runner up in the FF1600 moaning stakes.

Well done Peter,
Although I may sound alittle bias, I attended last years race with Ed and found the oranisers and the Overend family to be totally commited to this event and deserve all the support from FF1600 drivers who have driven at Mallory Park during the recent years.

Some sponsorship has been collected, so start money is likely this year again. Please send me your interest asap. I should have entry forms soon.
we have a limit of maximum of 24 starters for Mallory.
Should be a good day.

Tut tut Mr Daly. Don't be satisfied with just one grid of 24. Start pushing for two heats and a final.

That would be great. A decent FFord race at a decent time of year-as opposed to the festival and the Walter Hayes!

UPDATE

There will be three classes, as run last year;
POST 89

Please support this race if you can, Mallory Park may have some surprises for you on the day!

I will also have entry forms on me at Snetterton 3/4 Aug.

Anyone who would like to do the Edwina Race and is thinking of testing, I may be able to help with trailer parking between the Wednesday test and the weekend if required. This may save some people the hassle of two round trips.

for entries please email me peter@dalys.co.uk

nearly half the grid taken and still 4 weeks!

youngoldy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Its just a good thing for the NW, that we can only race on saturdays at Oulton, and that the Edwina is on the sunday.

A request has been given to Diz, if possible, the FF races can be as early in the timetable as possible, so that those doing the Edwina from the NW can get off as soon as possible

The entry list looks good Peter, good to hear we can enter into the F Free race as well.

The finals are now out, anyone entering late may not receive them until the week before the race. Any issues with that and tickets please try and contact Tony Oliver. (I know he is on holiday for a few days at present)
Unfortunately I am away until 18th, but may be able to collect emails. (depends on Canadian telephony!)

Qualifying for Edwina Race is 10.10, F Free is 11.45.
Race will be about 2.40 and 4.15 respectively.

There are definitely 22 entries and there are places for two more!
Many thanks for your support.

PS Don't forget powernights 30th Aug Silverstone, as at last night there are 14 FF1600 entries, so more are required.

Thanks to everyone who put effort, time and money into today.

A good race to be part of.

And with prize money for those of us fortunate to be in the top three of each class, as well as start money for everybody, excellent value.

A shame for the F Free drivers missing out on their race but it was just too wet...
