Best/worst roads...
We've had debates about which country produces the best/worst cars , so how about who has the best/worse roads ??
Canada's roads are about average. The frost each winter produces lots of cracks and potholes each summer,and the road markings could be better. I miss the UK's 'cats-eyes', which would be torn up by snow plow blades here. The northern winter ice roads across lakes can be interesting.. |

Garbage roads in the north here. _Really_ awful. But spectacular driving in the mountians, the Appalacians especially.

Kentucky keeps their highways in pretty good shape. They have their turnpikes crossing the state to generate revenue.
The interstate highway system in Illinois is indefinitely under maintenance, so grooved roads, uneven pavement, and multiple lane closures are the norm. The roads are in pretty good condition in the Atlanta area, but getting to where you want to go through them is comparable to Theseus walking through the Labyrinth to kill the Minotaur. The most scenic roads east of the Mississippi are going over the Appalachians in Tennessee, as long as you don't reach the Monteagle ridge during a torrential downpour. In the rain, those roads are a God-fearing experience. The most boring road is the I-80 through the salt flats of Utah. 75 miles of dead, flat scenery and a straight strip of uninterrupted asphalt. You could fall asleep at the wheel or jump into the backseat for a quickie with your girl and stay on the road unnoticed until Wendover, Nevada. Last edited by Fish_Flake; 30 Jul 2003 at 19:29. |

I think Romania should score quite good where it comes to worse roads.
If I remember correctly, they used to have warning signs saying "Drum bun" (Good road). :confused: |

sorry mate, the worse road's would have to be in outback australia!! very bumpy, dusty and hot!! not to mention the amount of animals you have to try and avoid!! very bad!
