Is anyone else sick of the sight of Jenson Button?

I know BAR seem to be going great guns at present, but I really am fed up with all of the coverage they constantly get. Pre-Melbourne Button was heavily featured in virtually every issue of Autosport, usually with no new information to warrant coverage, and it's been just as bad since..I've lost count of how many covers he has been on. ITV are just as bad...I guess thanks to Tony Jardines PR Machine. I do like the guy but how many times do we need to be told about him "stepping up to the plate as team leader..new more focussed Jenson..more podiums to come, possibly a win..blah blah blah"

WRITE ABOUT SOMEBODY ELSE!!!

Can't see that this is very worthy of a thread. Some people are probably quite fed up with ferrari/schumacher eternally winning, but it'll continue no doubt.

Yeah, he has been on the front cover of Autosport mag at least 4 times over the past 2 months. I think they could tone it down a little, but what else is there to write/talk about? Micheal wins again? That's been done to death more than twice. Fact is, Button has been heavily hyped ever since he came into F1. The British media are dying for another Mansell or Hill, so it's only to be expected.

I think he's paid his dues and is now genuinely one of the top 6 or 7 drivers out there and I'd like to see him in a position where he can win. It doesn't annoy me as much as it did when he first came on the scene, when people were saying "wow, he's only half a second slower than Ralf, he's brilliant!"

Strange, I never see Button on TV?

Its only the 3rd race and you guys are sick of him already? What will happen when he wins his first? I think you guys have DR to thank for that. Remember he also wants to change the image of the team. He is an excellent PR man.

British media= British driver= Semi-good looking guy= slight chance for wins= Wayyyy to many front pages, pictures, and pointless articles.

Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed.

Is this really your biggest problem in life? it reminds me of those people that buy porn mags and complain about the nudity.

He's a F1 racing driver, currently the top Brit, and on the rise. I dont read these things myself, but I dare say here in Oz most are displayed with a picture of Webber.

No biggy. As DNQ's sig once suggested "Go outside, the graphics are amazing".

Hmmm...i don't see what's wrong honestly..

There were a time when the covers feature Montoya heavily... there was a time when Kimi appeared everywhere. Jacques, Webber, Michael all had their time on the media. Now we have a new "challenger", it's natural that the mags are trying to appeal to the readers with the latest "fashion" in F1.

Its great - for someone else to have succeeded and to hear another view on the whole deal.

The media must get slightly bored with Ferrari winning all the time so JB gives a new angle.

i do not mind seeing Jenson as much as the other drivers, but what does hack me of is his girlfriend and her stupid song that ITV are pumping like mad.
Its a **** song, she cant sing, all she should do is sit in the paddock and look good like the rest

The idiotic british media are nearly entirely to blame.

At least button doesn't spout bullpiles every year like britains' last attempt at a 'star'

Oh, right.
I meant a Belgian who is able to fight for the title actually and as far as i know Boutsen was never able to do that.

We're gonna see a lot more of Jenson in the months ahead.

And it's well deserved.

Thanks for your concern..I do have plenty of things in life to worry about actually, and I never complain about porn mags. Would you however, buy porn mags regularly if they featured the same girl every week?

I was making a point about a disproportionate amount of coverage afforded to one individual, without (at that time) any solid reason to justify it. As I said, I don't dislike the guy, I just don't believe we need to hear his musings repeated every week.

He drove well today though, so I imagine that next week he will be on the cover again with 2 or 3 pages inside as well.

It is justified though.

He didn't have this level of coverage when he was down the back in the 01 Benetton.
