Fantastic result for KTM and it's about time Kallio stepped onto a grand prix podium. KTM's decision to dump Arnaud Vincent has now been justified to an extent...
But the big news of the weekend was the dominant performance by Daniel Pedrosa to take his first, very well deserved world championship. Well done to the young lad! |

It has been long time....21 years.
In 1982 Johnny Wikström was 3rd in Imatra, Finland 125cc race. Since then there hasn't been a finn on the podium on World Championship level of RR. |

Lucio was apparently made a better offer by a rider with $$... Casey cant even hope to compete with that...
Is KTM a serious threat in 125s? |

The noise was that KTM are coming back next year with 2 works 125s and 2 satellite 125s and possibly a single 250 entry....

KTM are a small company and the costs to go into MotoGP are astronomical. Aprilia are really struggling with finances, as are Suzuki and Kawasaki. Ducati survive on blind faith and pure love for the sport.
Honda can easily afford MotoGP and Yamaha can survive if results are good. |

Aprilia and Kawasaki should also return to WSBK - it could once again be a great series! |

I've only read reports. Someone else may know something more concrete, but that is the rumour.
Aprilia may end up pulling the pin on their MotoGP program if they can't find sponsorship. Kawasaki are apparently in for the long haul, but if results don't improve, I don't see the point. They'd be better of developing a better WSBK machine. |

Beggio is almost certain to pull the plug on the RS3, as he did on the RSW500 a few years ago- unless the bike starts winning next year, which is highly unlikely. The RS3 is a dead duck.
Kawasaki and Suzuki may well be forced out by costs spiralling upwards if they want to be/remain competitive. Yamaha, too, will have to get good results to justify the enormous costs, which even they can't afford for very long without success- hence the bid to get Rossi. Of the four Japanese manufacturers, only Honda are in financial good health- the others are, to quote one observer, "wingless aircraft on a ballistic trajectory". Ducati are in a catch-22 situation; to justify the costs they HAVE to win. Without racing success, they will slowly see sales drop, making it even more difficult to be competitive. This year has been surprisingly successful, but next year will be tougher. WCM and Proton can be counted out of the equation. |
