Lewis under investigation again!
He just can't stay out of trouble it seems! This time he was deemed to have used two sets of wets during the first free practice. Button and Sato are in the dock for this too.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63425 10 place penalty then? |

Isn't this the kind of basic thing that the teams ought to know about?

Oh dear. Basic error if true but it happens i suppose. Look at Massa and the no fuel at Hungary.
I didn't know this rule existed BTW. Is this the reason Fernando didn't run at all in Free 1. To save his tyres for Free 2. Last edited by ralf fan; 19 Oct 2007 at 16:22. |

SpeedTV is now reporting that Hamilton's race engineer said they used one set of wets and one set of inters in P1.

Surely this error must lay with McLaren and as they can't earn any championship points as a team then what's the point in potentially moving Hamilton back on the grid?
Fine McLaren perhaps but leave the driver alone. |

Speed TV are reporting on air that Lewis' engineer claims Lewis used one set of extreme wets and one set of intermediates - not two sets of extreme wets. If true he should escape sanction as you are not allowed to use two of the same tyre type.

However, if the report is incorrect and the team messed up the tire allocation, it should be Lewis leaving McLaren, not Alonso.
Lewis needs to find a team that understands tires. He'll be driving for Bridgestone next season. |

A 5 place grid penalty would make things very interesting.

If McLaren's got an FIA Steward in their garage then why did he let this happen? Does he know the rules or is he only looking after Alonso's interest's?

Well maybe the FIA should give Hamilton his own Steward as it appears McLaren are trying to scupper his title chances!
McLaren left him out far too long in China and now they appear to have broken the rules in practice. Hamilton is in more need of a personal Steward than Alonso! |

The steward is there to ensure equality, not give the team any help (not that it matters, as he isn't there today).

Well in that case send Alonso out on 2 sets of the wrong tyres and then they'll be equal!

Well on that basis, surely Alonso should have been sent out with the same equipment...

I doubt anything will happen - several other drivers did the same thing.

Well, it looks to me like every driver should have their own steward then! Clearly every team in the paddock is trying their hardest to ensure they give their drivers unequal cars, dodgy tyre pressure's,rule breaking instructions, stolen technical data and other stuff!
Drivers have to be SO careful who they sign for nowaday's - its shocking! |

It seems like it's the FIA making the mistake ... McLaren would not be stupid enough to use two sets of the same. He used one set of inters and one set of wets ...
