Citroen Vs Peugeot
Is it really possible for a car other than a Peugeot 206 WRC or Citroen Xsara WRC to win on tarmac events?
I know that Tommi Makinen has been awarded the win in Monte Carlo, but if Citroen hadn't stuffed up with Sebastien Loeb and if Bugalski hadn't retired before the event even started and Gilles Panizzi hadn't been given his penalty, it was almost certain that one of those drivers would have won, especially as the Monte this year didn't have anywhere near as much snow and ice as normal. If you discount the Monte, as the roads are NORMALLY covered in snow and ice, the last time that a non Peugeot or Citroen won was Catalunya 2000 when Colin Mcrae won, and since then there have been six tarmac events all won by either a Peugeot or Citroen. In my opinion, the only way another car could win a tarmac event is if all the Peugeot's and Citroen's had mega reliability problems and retired. Am I wrong, what do you think? |

Citroen and Peugeot have certainly got the advantage with seven works cars! I can't really see anyone else getting in there (possibly Makinen).

Others cars can win on tarmac, but only if all of the Peugeots and Citroens go out.

Is this dominance of asphalt events by Peugeot and Citroen due to the fact that their cars are shorter in length than say the Impreza,Lancer or Focus?
