Webber says TGF staying beyond 2004.

Gazzetta dello sport has an interview with Webber (schumi's manager). He claims it is "highly likely" that TGF will continue his driving career beyond 2004. He does not state it would be with Ferrari, but I would assume he wouldn't leave that sweet deal...

Well then it's not Webber, but Willi Weber. I thought it was the Jaguar driver saying that.

He's going for five in a row!

At least all those that love to hate him will have plenty to keep them frothing at the mouth for another few years yet!

I reckon he should go back to his rookie team and get them back on the podium. Schumacher in the Jordan again - that, I'd like to see.

I still prefer that Webber had said that...

"He will stay beyond 2004, and we will switch places !"

What about Webber in a Ferrari and TGF in a Jaguar ?

This shows up in Autosport, too, but the headline has Weber complaining that Sir Frank doesn't like Rafe as much as JP...

I think Michael's trying to take a double figure of WDCs overall. But do you think Ferrari could trip up while he is there?

"Continue his driving career beyond 2004" - not necessarily F1 (hopefully).

It's not when Schumi retires, but when Rory Byrne hangs up his CAD program.

Of course Sir Frank doesn't like Ralf... He's only there because BMW is forcing Williams to have a German driver, and Frentzen didn't have his head on straight in '98.

Too right, Bononi! It would have been much better if Webber had said it...

TGF in a Jordan, like Glen suggests, that too would be something to watch!

Weber added that he believes Ralf to be Williams' best driver. "If the car is right, the driver most likely to challenge Michael is Ralf, not Montoya," he said.

Michael's contract will be written so that he can 'retire' (ie; not go to another team) whenever he wants.

Michael will be fast until the end. However, he will wake up one day, look at his family and ask "why am I doing this?". He will do whatever remaining races there are for the season and leave. Mick Doohan was the same. 5 World championships in a row, and after he hurt himself for the last time, he asked himself the same question.

Michael wont do a 'Damon' and keep going after he knows it's over. He does'nt need the money, and has nothing left to prove, just like Mika.

That said, he's currently at the top of his game, driving better than he ever has. While he's still enjoying it, he'll race. And if thats 6 months or 6 years will make no difference.

Weber has also said in the not particularly distant past that he doesn't think Michael will continue beyond 2004, I for one do not take any particular notice of what Willi has to say; he just says things now and then too keep the world focusing on the drivers he is payed to manage I reckon.

In terms of when Michael retires, Wrex has got it spot on.

Will be written? Actually I believe that it's already signed. Anyway, Montezemolo offered a 100 years deal; he was joking of course, but only a little. If Michael decides to sign such a contract, it's all his.
