Welcome to ten-tenths Nick. I dont get chance to post here as often as I would like to these days but ten-tenths is still THE best motorsport forum online and probably the biggest too, certainly it is the best for Sportscar and GT racing anyway.

And yes it is a Lister in my avatar, one of the cars that first got me into GT racing, although not when it was running in GT1 form. I found the colour scheme on the car, particularly from the rear to be very colourful and eye catching, I think the first time I really noticed it was the FIA GT race back in 2000 at Magny Cours when all there was racing in the GT class was a couple of Listers, a few Vipers and by that time some older GT2 Porsches! |

Thanks for the reply "Saleen S7R", I used to run a driver for Geoff in that Storm! ( great car... a dream to work on.)
Thanks also "Aysedasi" - I have ran in total 6 Saleens for three different teams, We won the British GT easily with the car and then entered FIA GT with two... Been to LeMans twice with them, Spa 24h, Daytona, Miami was good we were support for Indycar around the streets, never forget that race, Tommy stuffed the rear end of the lead car in the wall, Sebring etc...I am not going to bore you, but you are right it was and still is a lovely GT1 car, still look after 2 to this day! Guess you have seen the carnage that was our 2 Saleens crashing and then being hit by pretty much all the rest of the field on U tube, all started with Geoff in the lead car tee-boning a Porsche, have a look, it's still there, just type in saleen at Oulton Park, by the way the guy that gets out and is stood looking at the carnage owns both the cars still to this day. Anyway that better do I guess. Cheers |

Welcome to the forum Nick.
I always loved the Saleen's and remember the lister storms from my early trips to Le mans, one of the great sounding cars but unfortunately never really delivered the results we would have liked. |

Thanks for the welcome.
The problem with the Saleens was and still is Parts supply...the lack of parts was and still is a big problem....the Saleen was quite fragile believe it or not and there have been loads of times when we just could not get the car to the level of reliability wanted because of this. The other thing was the cost of running, it is a very, very expensive car to run! Lister Storm was a great car, I was not keen on the shape, but it was bullet proof as far as reliability. |

I always thought the Saleen was the best looking GT1 car . Doug Fehan always maintained that the Saleen should have beaten the Corvette , if there was a team with a budget like P&M had . Love that car . |

the problem was that no team developed the car because of issues I have already mentioned...Konrad did a bit...we wanted to change the back end, stiffen it up, the back moved around a lot because of the way it was set up.... properly sorted it would have been THE GT1 car of it's time. Corvette was properly soted with the right budget...absolutely bullet proof.
