Does anyone get this magazine?

Does anyone have their Feb issue? As mine has not arrived.

If you got a January your very lucky because the issues ceased production in Dec2001. Its finished unfortunately, but they will still do back copies of some of them. Check to confirm the particulars though, you may get lucky.

I got a couple of complimentary copies when it first came out, courtesy of my Autosport subscription, but I never subscribed to it and never ever saw it in the shops.

I am subscribed to it. Its a good magazine. I renewed it recently and its supposed to start with the Feb issue (out 27) and I still don't have it.

I have been subscribed for the last 4 months, when I didn't receive the Jan issue I got on the phone to them and was told that there were plenty left in stock and they would have a back issue sent out to me within the week....

A week passed and nothing, I called again and was told it wasn't published anymore, the result being that I would be sent a letter to inform me of this and giving me the option of either choosing another magazine or a refund, they couldn't do this whilst I was on the phone..

Two weeks later and still no letter, maybe they hope I'll forget a quickly as they have!!

Ah So that could signal the end of the Radio Web as well as that was produced for the ALMS by the Haymarkets Special Projects People in return for Don Panoz underwriting the magazine.

It was always going to be too niche and they knew it that why it needed underwriting.

I talked to the guy from EWA and he said that another company might pick up the magazine and start it up again.

I have spoken to Haymarket again this morning, they have sent the letters out and I should receive this in the next few days (again).

What they are proposing in the letter is to transfer the subscription over to Racer magazine, and are sending out a free copy as a tester, if it is no good then the other course is refund.

I am disappointed but not totally surprised , remembering what happened to the likes of 'Grand Prix International' back in the eighties I think there is obviously not a big enough following to make it viable - I got every issue (and of 'Grand Prix International' ! )
Whilst I am aggrieved at now having to chase around getting my subscription money back I have to say that I will not really mourn its loss as I found it tended to pander more to its American readership so a lot of the articles were lost on me (on the plus side a lot of the historical content was very good)

I usually bought only the issues that covered a race I had attended, as the reporting was woefully out of date by the time the magazine came out, but the photography was glorious.

I won't be getting "Racer" magazine because that DOES pander too much to American audiences. Or if you want to say it more politely, it tends to focus on the American audiences.

How Sad!!! I have been subscribing to LM&SCR since edition number 2 came on the street back in 1999, and have always loved reading this magazine. I have read a lot of different racing magazines, but LM&SCR has been my choice #1. I really hope it can be brought back to life again......

I thought it was really good this mag. I'm in Australia and felt it kept me up to date with what was happening, (though nothing compares to being on the net.) Of course it was largely aimed at Americans, what do you think it is, the United Nations LeMans Series. Even so, I loved the hitorical, technical, and photographic sections. It had good interviews that were mature, well-informed, well edited with still some humour. I vividly remember the sections devoted to Bob Wollek, and Alboreto. Stories by Pruett about LeMans, about Jonny Kane and his blind man passenger, and instructions on what to do, "So you've bought an R8....." - (I was having setup trouble so this was particularly useful )

I've never bought a subscription to anything but wish I had to this great mag, - and also to Playboy. - It also has great articles...

Any idea where I can get some old Grand Prix Internationals from? I bought a dozen or so as a boy 82-3 (still have em - photography and articles unrivalled to this day - and that wonderful quality paper and that feel of it being written by and for rich Europeans living on the Cote D'Azur or somesuch place.....even though it was people like Tony Dodgins!).

I would dearly love to see some more of the old 80s GP cars , as well as those superb Group B rally days and Group C sportscars.

Help! I think I might try on Amazon later but if anyone knows of a bookshop or specialist somewhere I would be very grateful if you could point me in their direction.

Try Collectors Carbooks (Woburn -01525 290088 ) or Chaters in Isleworth, they both carry large stocks of old magazines -I've spent many hours in the past trawling through their old stock and usually come up with most things I've been looking for

Chaters have decided to pull out of the pre-owned magazine side of the business. It was taking up an entire basement which they needed for other stuff.

(I made them a silly offer for their entire stock of race programmes, and was more than a little surprised to have it accepted!)

Collectors Carbooks do carry GP International, and I can thoroughly recommend them. They are also on the net and any good search engine will get to the online store. I'd also recommend the "Simon Lewis Transport Bookshop" website. Simon also stocks classic magazines, and does tend to be a little cheaper than Collectors Carbooks.

But both have given me 100% quality service every time.

I had heard rumors of it's impending demise and did not re-subscribe in October. Still, I got all the issues including January, even though October was supposed to be my last issue. So i was lucky there.

But there were also rumors that the magazine was heavily funded by Dr.Panoz himself and was a glorification tool for the series. If that is true, it is not good news coming at the same time of rumors that Don has the series on the block.

I hope it improves. Don has thrown away alot of money on sportscar racing and he didn't get rich by being stupid. If he see his investment isn't paying off, the stock prices might be enough to have him cut his losses. I hope he stays in for the long haul. We don't want the ALMS to go away.
