2017 IndyCar silly season
So what could be possible for 2017
Penske There are some rumours about Montoya is going to be replaced. For example with Newgarden. But most likely all 4 drivers will stay at least for one more season. 1) Simon Pagenaud 2) Will Power 3) Hélio Castroneves 4) Juan-Pablo Montoya Carpenter Newgarden is looking for a better shot, at either Penske or Ganassi. But for the moment it seems there are no places available there. So he is very likely to stay. Perhaps Ed Carpenter will do oval courses again, with the car driven from another driver at the road and street courses. Perhaps with Spencer Pigot again. 5) Josef Newgarden 6) Ed Carpenter / Spencer Pigot Ganassi Kanaan is going to get another season with that good run so far. All other drivers are very likely to stay. So I expect no chances there. 7) Scott Dixon 8) Tony Kanaan 9) Charlie Kimball 10) Max Chilton Schmidt Peterson Sam Schmidt expects both drivers to stay, a third car would be great, but that's not very likely. 11) James Hinchcliffe 12) Mikhail Aleshin Andretti Alexander Rossi wants to be back in Formula One, but beside of Manor there are no chances. And for Manor I don't think he has enough money. So, Rossi should be back with Andretti/Herta again - as the other Andretti drivers as well 13) Carlos Munoz 14) Alexander Rossi 15) Ryan Hunter-Reay 16) Marco Andretti Rahal Letterman Lanigan With more money they could expand to a two-car line-up. Ed Jones is a strong contender for that. 17) Graham Rahal 18) Ed Jones KVSH Don't expect a second entry. Bourdais to stay I think. 19) Sébastien Bourdais Foyt I think at least one driver could leave. I expect Sato to stay. New driver could be Harvey. 20) Takuma Sato 21) Jack Harvey Dale Coyne Dale Coyne could be reduce to 1 car for Daly. 22) Conor Daly |

According to Racer.com, Bourdais has signed with with Coyne for next year. However, Bourdais says: "Dale and I have been talking since January about what we could do but I have not signed anything."
http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/13...h-coyne-for-17 The 2017 IndyCar Silly Season has indeed begun. |

That would be a huge suprise.
But sounds like KV Racing is in trouble - what's no surprise. Hope that we'll not losing the next team... |

KV to Coyne doesn't seem like a promotion. If he's looking around, that seems to indicate KV is indeed in trouble.
As for the 4 Penske drives, I heard from an American collegaue, that if anyone is out - which is unlikely - it will probably be Helio, not Juan Pablo. *If* Helio were to be released, they would definitely be aiming for Newgarden; and Helio could return for a one-off at Indy. That's what he heard... |

Even with four wins, Bourdais has underperformed with KV. Changing teams could be a good idea. But then he needs a proper engineer.

There's speculation as Montoya hasn't yet renewed his contract with Penske.

Yep, the dude loves making lists.
No judgement here (I love making lists too!), but don't take 'em as gospel. |

Why is Chilton paying to be Ganassi's fourth driver if he could get a free ride at Carlin? Okay, so what’s really going on?

Carlin is far away from a debut I think. That takes time.

On Motorsport.com I read about possibilities for Rossi with Penske and Montoya with KV. Newgarden would remain with ECR, looking for Penske or Ganassi in 2018, replacing Hélio or Tony. What do you think about?

Chilton's best results were 7th at Phoenix and 10th at Watkins Glen - with Ganassi.
Daly was second at Detroit 1, fourth at Watkins Glen, and sixth at Indy GP, Detroit 2 and Mid-Ohio - with Dale Coyne. |

The Rossi rumour does seem to be a little Roger power play with Josef. Cant see any logic if given the opportunity you would go for Rossi over Newgarden.
Keen to see if Sage Karam could pop up anywhere? |

Not really about silly season but is a change for 2017:
http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/13...r-no-1-in-2017 Champ will have the #1 on his car. Good for him! |

So JR to ECR? Or could Conor Daly find his way there?
Had Bourdais not signalled his intentions of heading to Coyne early, an ECR fit could have been ideal for both parties |

I think Newgaarden fits better at Ganassi imo. He seems like the type to share with his teammates and work together, which is how Ganassi operates. Penske is more cutthroat and each one for themselves. I hope he goes to one of the two, just so he can challenge for a title, though. Power, Newgarden and Pagenaud are the three best in the series in my opinion. Those three all at Penske would be scary.
Why does Montoya keep getting talked about as being replaceable at Penske and not Castroneves? Montoya was in line for the champioship last year, Helio wasn't, won a race this year, Helio didn't, and both are the same age. If anyone should be out there, Helio should be. |
