Hey "Mr.Klein" (one of the best movies with Alain Delon, btw),
Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier will be at Forsythe Championship Racing next year - case closed ?! Bryan Herta may have a shot at (in order of probability): Patrick, ASTJ, PK, and Rahal. zerO |

Explain... "A sponsor for Forsythe on his uniform".

Look right above the /////Alpine logo. It's Forsythe Technologies, and Richard Forsythe is their chairman and president, and I have no idea if he is related for Gerry or not. |

Thanks for the pic, Cork. Nor have I any idea how many pots Forsythe has his fingers into.

I tend to think not. Herta is doing well in the IRL, I bet he stays there.

Herta is one of Mikey's loyal myrmidions and has no money outside what TG and Mikey give him. He won't be back in CART.
Dario's wife and her family want him to quit racing altogether. They have been hounding him since his big (oval) crash at Homestead. He won't be back either. |

Very old joke: The three words a woman thinks of when she walks down the aisle toward her waiting groom: "Aisle ... Altar ... Hymn."
However, I subscribe to the Flip Wilson Doctrine: "What you SEE is what you GET!" Maybe she just wants Dario to assert himself. |

"Aisle Altar Hymn." That's great funny.
Too bad it didn't work for my wife! |

Hey, it worked for Mrs. Wayne Gretzky -- she made him leave Canada so she could have an "acting career" which as far as I know has never materialized. But charitably speaking I suppose these sensitive new age guys are capable of resisting the minor league actresses they marry, if they really want to.
But getting back to the subject at hand, I suspect Bryan Herta is another Memo Gidley, forever seeking the next drive as he knows the one he has won't last much longer. I foresee him doing a patchwork of races until he retires; he was good in sports cars and probably can get a drive with a sports car team as third driver when he wants one. |

Memo Gidley again?
Aren't most drivers who didn't get lucky in the sperm lottery are all "Memo Gidleys", especially under the current economic climate? |

I'm just curious Liz, where did you hear about Mrs. Judd not approving of Dario's profession (you've mentioned it several times)? I would have though Moore's death would have been the wakeup call if there was one.

An American "myrmidion." Hmmm. My dictionary (Funk & Wagnall's New Comprehensive International Dictionary of the English Language) spells it: "myrmidon." Defined as: "A faithful adherent; also, a follower or underling of a rough or desperate character, who executes the commands of his master without question or scruple; especially a petty officer of the law."
Just how exactly does one demonstrate that Herta is such a person? He is a fine driver, excellent in sportscars, decent in CART with Rahal who has had some F1 consideration in the past. Now, somehow, he is in thrall to Michael Andretti? Just what sort of "faithful adherent" is he? What has he done at Michael's bidding without scruple? He has been rumored in full-time CART and IRL rides and seems a decent enough chap despite being born south of the Canadian border. I too would like to see an actual quote from Mrs. Franchitti where she notes a preference for Dario to quit racing. Dario needs to be "assertive?" By definition any successful race car driver is assertive. Imho, anyhow. Last edited by JohnSSC; 17 Sep 2003 at 02:52. |

The problem Herta had when he was in CART is that he only ever did superbly at one race track - Laguna Seca - while posting various results, good or bad, at every other circuit. In other words, he lacked consistently.
What I find really surprising is that Herta is doing well on ovals in the IRL and he never did well on them while he was in CART... Whatever he chooses, good luck to him. |

Although I do remember Herta leading quite a number of laps at MIS in the past.
