Who Do You Want To Win The Indy 500?
Let's have some fun! Now that the race is getting close, I'd like to pose a simple question. Who do you want to win the Indy 500?
My pick - Scott Sharp, a sentimental hometown favorite, thats the last, and only original IRL driver left, and I would dearly love to see him pull off the upset and beat all of the "big-time, big name" drivers in the series now. Go Scott! Who do you want to win the big race? |

I don't think anyone will be very surprised when I say Kenny Brack
Sure wouldn't mind seeing Danica in victory lane either. |

Brack...although the chances of him winning on his first race back from a serious and critical injury is very small

Considering past misfortunes at Indy, I'd be happy for Hornish to win.
Then I think that a win by Kanaan cpould only honour the tradition of such a race. About revenges on bad luck, Scheckter would deserve something, too. |

For sentimental reasons: Brack
For publicity for the championship: probably Danica For the championship: anybody but Wheldon |

This is a tricky one - who I want to win and who I think will win are at odds with each other.
The people I want to win include Vitor Meira, who was equally as fast as Buddy Rice last season but just never got that win. Adrian Fernandez, because he's a great racer and an indy victory would be a huge boost to his whole outfit. Predictably, Danica Patrick, because I think it would be great for the sport. Like it or not, she is a story the media like, and as long as they're talking about the IndyCar Series by association that's fine by me. I'm going to choose Tony Kanaan - his style of racecraft is ideal for this event, and I'd want him to win to make the championship more interesting. I'm not big on charity wins for Buddy Lazier or Kenny Brack - they're not going to be there for the rest of the season, and a victory for someone in the championship chase is something I'd like to see far more. |

1. Patrick - History being made
2. Brack - The Hollywood fightback story 3. Bourdais - For reunification's sake, and to finally get his undoubted talent recognised worldwide 4. Franchitti - Countrymanship 5. Scheckter - Anyone with that much bad luck deserves a break |

I'd like Lazier to win to add legitimacy to his 96 triumph, or Bourdais cos he's still underrated, or Meira because he has come close before without doing it. But if I had to choose one, with no Mo Nunn entry, it'd've have to be Darren Manning for sheer hard work.

Sebass - as he is a Champ Car driver, and it's nice to see Champ Car drivers and teams take part, even if they help field the 33.
Seb is in my opinion the best driver racing across the Atlantic at the moment. With the little oval experience he has he's won on his debut and has always been fast at the fast speedways / tri-ovals. Junky - as he has lost out at the Champ Car title 3 years in a row now and has done well at Indy in the past. Franchitti - as he has always been one of my favorite drivers, and so far this year in the IRL has been in my opinion one of the best drivers though far, between Wheldon and Sam, he just hasn't had the luck and the results. Last year it was Wheldon who I wanted to win, but as Dan has already one nearly all of the races this year I would like some one else to win, and I would like to see Darren Manning finish on the podium. And finaly Hornish - as he's one of my favourite drivers all ways has been since he started off in the IRL, and hasn't had the luck or rsults since his Panther days a few years back. |

Dan really wants to win Indy, and I think he's gonna be fighting harder then most out there for it.He knows he's got a battle ahead of him,and has been realistic about his chances. He hasn't been cocky about his wins, and continues to show the maturity of championship racer.Plus hey,in 2002 Dan was walking around the Garage area at Indy helmet in hand just looking for someone to put him through ROP.Just in case a back up car deal could be made later in the month.I'd love to see Dan get the win, because he does know what it feels like to be one of those guys outside looking in,and appreciates what Indy means. He's one of the few who still get it.
I'd be happy with any of these guys winning as well Sam Hornish jr,Buddy Lazier,or Kenny Brack. I don't think Danica will win it this year, she's a Rookie,if she were to have a slip up like she did in qualifying with a pack of cars around her it could be game over for quite a bit of the field.Next year with some miles under her belt at Indy she will have a better chance, and be more of threat. |

My heart says Buddy Lazier....because of the connection to Jonathan Byrd and his family.....
My head says it could be any of 10-12 drivers...at least.... I think this is going to be one of the most competitive Indy 500s in years.... I can't wait until I'm sitting in the Northeast Vista to watch it all unfold next next Sunday afternoon.... |
