WPI Motorsport mentioned they'll be back next year, their current Huracan GT3 is up for sale so i presume they'll have a new chassis.

Yep the Dutch built cars that were pretty competitive in the first couple of years of GT4.

As always, we assume the capacity has remained at 35 for full season, with one offs allowed at a majority of tracks

We are 10 in, with another entry in GT3 due tomorrow.

I’m guessing we are looking at the usual 13-14 GT3s with 15-16 GT4s hopefully bouncing back from last year

British GT 2022 (10/35 Car Capacity)

GT3 Class - 4 Cars

Barwell Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Adam Balon / Sandy Mitchell
Barwell Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Leo Machitski / Dennis Lind
Redline Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Alex Malykhin / James Darlin
WPI Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Phil Keen / Michael Igoe

GT4 Class - 6 Cars

Inspire Racing - Ekris M4 GT4 - Richard Marsh / Gareth Howell
Motus One - McLaren 570s GT4 - Stewart Lines / Will Powell
Newbridge Motorsport - Aston Martin Vantage GT4 - Darren Turner / Matt Topham
R Racing - Aston Martin Vantage GT4 - Josh Miller / TBC
Team BRIT - McLaren 570s GT4 - Aaron Morgan / Bobby Trundley
Team Parker Racing - Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport - Seb Hopkins / TBC

A certain familiar ring to this one.

Team ABBA Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Richard Neary / Sam Neary

Unless trivia, this is the first non-Lamborghini GT3 to be announced in the current 5 car list for British GT this year

24 more cars to hit capacity..

Just imagine how a BTCC thread would develop if a question of how 'confirmed' an entry is was raised?

I was just going with the press release when they bought the M4 GT3 as they said they will be running 1 GT3 and the 2 GT4, so took it as pretty much confirmed.

I recently watched British GT the 2000 to 2003 season on the tube and must say WOW

how the heck we went from that to this ? there was such a big variety of cars , many self build ones , the racing was fast and furious and now we have this sterrile , just another GT3 series with only a few car types and heavily BOP

Given the choice, running customer cars in a BoP class is really a no-brainer for teams and (paying) drivers. No hassle with uncompetitive or unreliable cars, no money to spend on development, no insurmountable advantage for the best funded teams...

The game was basically up as soon as Ratel introduced GT3 in 2006. As long as customer car BoP series are a thing, there's no going back to the way things were before.

from the teams perspective you may be right but the spectators are the real losers

look at the 2003 season you had totally sureal scenes of VW Golf passing Ferraris and Porsches or some ancien cars like a Ferrari F40 on the grid mixing up with the newer cars

GT3 category is a blessing and curse at same time (just like TCR) it ensures relative decent sized grids and relative chances but it completely kills off variaty and makes the whole sport dependent on the big manufacturers, it also kils off the "identity" of a championship since every one of them uses the same cars (not just same rules)

What can you do though? Look at every category in motorsport. Motorsport is built on spec cars these days. I hate it just as much as you but without that you are watching single car grids because its not sustainable hence why the whole spec parts/cars have become the norm. Im sorry but its true.

tbh, i remember being in my late teens back then, and i really didnt like those years.....but then i remember british gt from 96-98 with GT1 monsters, Morgan, TVR, Harrier, Quaife...

...i supose its all about perspective really.

As above GT3 is a blessing and a curse rolled into one.

Problem is, whats the alternative?

oh the 90s were very fun times as well , love the more "club racing" feel of it and before 1998 the GT2 cars could actually compete with the GT1 for overall wins

and there are some 2003-2004 races

it's also interesting how in 2000 they axed GT1 then for 2003 they axed GT2 , only to axe the new GT2 (formely GT3) in 2007 and since then we are stuck with this overregulated GT3

The issue with the old way of doing things was cost. while those cars were incredible even back then a mclaren cost £750,000...thats 1.2 million in todays money.

Yes i agree its kinda overregulated but it has lead to large mixed grids and stable regulation for 15 years now....almost unheard of in the sportscar world.
