TV BTCC TV coverage in the UK (merged)

Can anyone tell me if the BTCC will be on TV this year and which Channel? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Independant Television - popularly known as ITV, will be showing the races this year - with each third race live as before with preceding coverage of the first two - probably in a highlights vein.

No other coverage has been confirmed or expected.

YAY!!!!!, my dad got rid of sky so i dont have motors anymore so this is a godsend for me.

shame noone does LMS or ALMS though on normal TV not even late at night!!!!!

You hateful man, begrudging everyone else of BTCC coverage.

It's a shame as this year is shaping up to be a bit better than the shoddy efforts of the past two years.

Well you will still get drivers forgetting they are racing in Britain's main touring car championship...and not stock car racing...

Stock cars are far cleaner than BTCC considering the speeds involved, number of cars and proximity but I digress...

A bit of bumping is OK, just as long as it's not out of hand like it got in 2005 and 2006.

The ITV coverage hasn't been confirmed either.

I saw a "this is what we do" advert on BBC the other week which showed footage of the various sports that they cover.

There was the briefest of onboard clips from a BTCC race, a Team Dynamics car was being chased across the start-finish line a Brands.

That would suggest that the BTCC could be on the Beeb this year.

There must be 2 versions of that BBC ad. First few times I saw it there was definitely BTCC footage but not in the more recent showings. The ad is meant to show the BBC's camera technology, hence some of the more unusual camera angles.

BBC Resources supply the cameras and outside broadcast facilities that ITV use for BTCC. They've done the same for the British GP ever since ITV took over broadcasting F1.

No they don't.
021 (www.021tv.com) supply the cameras and OB facilities that ITV use for the BTCC.

You're right, O21 have taken over the OB facilities but the BBC still provide the on board cameras - http://www.bbcresources.co.uk/ob/spe...torsports.html

Notice they do the same for WRC and A1GP, neither of which is shown on the BBC.

021 took over the OB facilities three years ago.
...and before that it was Arena (www.arena-tv.com) who were used for at least four years by both ITV and the BBC.

We expect the actual races from joe bloggs point of view will be on ITV but no confirmation as yet.

There was some speculation flying around on Digital Spy that there was a possibility of it happening. Like TL says I imagine anything interesting will be confirmed on Tuesday...

Setanta!!!!!!!!!

I got in a strop with them over not showing the Daytona 500 and cancelled my subscription. Even when they got Nascar back on I still cancelled, I decided £15 a month was abit steep when one hour of highlights are on Five.

However... if they are going to show the entire BTCC meeting I may be tempted to go back to them. I used to enjoy the day long coverage on Motors. It was like going to a race meeting in your living room. Possibly even better than going to the circuit as you could potter around and get things done in between races.

Mind you there is nothing like being there and getting rained upon...
